Best Ram 2500 Tow Bars

This is one of the best, two items I purchased of about 6 or 7 items acquired to rig my 2001 GMC YukonXL for flat towing. The 10,000 lb capacity is valued. the tow bar slides work well. the 3/4inch pins are strong and I have had no problems. The tow bar pulls a YukonXL with some extra stuff, fuel and tools and weighs probably 6,500 lbs (my est--haven't put it on a CAT scale). When I rig my 2020 Chev Silverado Trail Boss to flat tow, I expect to be able to use this.

The Blackhawk 2 All-Terrain tow my 2017 F250 Powerstroke with RZR loaded on the truck and performed well. We have traveled across the US towing a 2020 Escape Hybrid and again the bar excelled.

The tow bar works great, But the breakaway cables didn't hold when my drop hitch broke, both cables sheared leaving my Jeep on the side of the road, luckily the emergency breakaway switch activated and it came to a stop. I think the cable needs to be stronger to hold a 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4XE.

The product works great. I love all the light features on it. Easy install and easy of use. Using the product with my RV and Jeep Gladiator.

We've been towing our Jeep Grand Cherokee for about 8 months now with this tow bar and it's worked flawlessly! We've been places where the coach and Jeep are not perfectly aligned putting the attaching pins in a bind, but with a simple release of the handle it would release the arm and unbind the pin. Super easy to use. I highly recommend the Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding tow bar. OH! The LED lights along the arm make it look great too!!

This tow bar is a beast! I'm replacing my existing one (same model) after over 20,000 miles of pulling a Jeep Cherokee behind a class A motorhome. It has taken a beating on a trip to Alaska and back to Texas, including an incident where the wind blew me off the road and put the Jeep on 2 wheels. A frost heave that bent the RV Tow receiver but not the tow bar. As well as a car driving into the back of the Jeep while I was towing at 65 mph. Can't say enough about the quality and durability of this product!

Towed a 4 door Rubicon with Dodge 2500 truck. The tow bar did great on the 2000+ mile trip. The bar is very easy to couple and uncouple.

The Blue Ox is perfect for my needs. I use it to tow my 2004 Tacoma, with after market Warn locking hubs, behind my truck camper. The tow bar is easy to hook up and remove and tows like a dream. I would recommend for this purpose highly.

Arrived quickly and well packaged. Took less than an hour to install on the RV with the included safety cables and wiring.I haven't pulled our Bronco with it yet but the tow bar appears to be well built and a quality product.

First, received the package and upon opening, found that the linch pins were missing. One phone call and issue was resolved and replacement items were being expedited to me. Appears the box came open on one end during shipment and parts came out before carrier retaped the tear. Good on E-Trailer for outstanding and prompt customer service! Now, the Sterling All Terrain towbar - very impressive unit as I had bought this on reputation only as no dealers had any in stock (they say it is too costly to carry in store). Very well made, excellent finish and welds. Instructions are quite clear and easy to follow. I like that when you purchase this unit, it is a “total package”. There is nothing I could see that is cheaply made - all quality. This was my first purchase from E-trailer, and based on how this order went start to finish, and having to deal with missing parts on an order - I am very pleased and will deal with them in the future.

This tow bar replaced a 10k Blue Ox that was older and lots of miles towing heavy pickup. I wanted to replace with new tow bar for piece of mind. It was important that I had a non-binding tow bar because I have a 43’ MH and tow a full size crew cab pickup and more than not at rv parks and my driveway is pickup not completely straight and 100% level behind MH. If that’s the case I struggle to release arms. Sometimes both or just one depending on angle. Even if vehicle is slightly angled I have to fight it. Description states quick disconnect even on rough terrain. If that means uneven terrain I disagree. Also, the tabs that hold arms in when not in use are a joke they are not designed for a HD tow bar. Those came loose after just a few uses. Strut boots would have been nice but not a biggie. I like that the safety cables are integrated in to arms and has an electrical cord holder. Tow bar is EZ to hookup to my pickup and tows perfect. I don’t want to be negative (to late) but I would not buy or recommend because of disconnecting issue.

The product functions as advertised. I used my towing equipment over a year to pull a 2009 Saturn Aura. I love that the tow arms don't fall to the ground once you disconnect them from the car.

Demco has made MANY improvements over the original Excalibar I purchased 18 years ago. Some of the changes have been with the safety cables being better organized; the main 'towing' bolt being perpendicular to the towing pull tension; being able to adjust the assembly to accommodate a more level alignment between the powered and towed vehicles by 'flipping' or turning over the yoke. Also, it is much easier to store the assembly with the newer pin and plate arrangement, instead of the previous pin system which required getting on the ground and attempting to pin the shaft to secure the tow arms. In addition, the tow arms now have the ability to hold themselves up while you are in the process of disconnecting the tow bar from the powered vehicle. I have not towed my truck behind my motorhome as of yet, so I can't say how it will disengage and be non-binding on the arms for storage. One of the issues I had with the old Excalibar was being somewhat difficult to release and disengage after a trip. Hopefully, that issue has been resolved.

The Demco Excali-bar 3 is proving to be a great purchase. Having owned a previous model Demco, I am very pleased with the current model Excali-bar's new improvements!

Very easy to use and handled as well as I expected.

After owning another name brand tow bar and experiencing a. complete and catastrophic failure of one of the arms resulting in extensive damage and costly repair to both TOAD and the rear of the motorhome I discarded the remains and purchased a Demco Excali-bar. I couldn't have been happier. Being ever mindful of what happened in the past, I can now tow with complete confidence. It is easier to hook-up, is reliable and I have had no worry about any failure, My go to tow bar.

The product quality is excellent and very easy to use. We've had no issues with the installation or towing our F150 behind our motorhome. Easy to remove or attach with just one person.

If you are thinking of towing a car this is the company to see. Just installed a base plate and tow bar to my Toyota. Took just 2 hours. With the video and instructions, no problems, very easy. Customer support excellent, very helpful. If you don’t think that you can do this install yourself, think again. First, this bar is extremely heavy, which makes transporting and maneuvering cumbersome and difficult. Secondly, I had issues with this unit from the get-go. I did not receive the correct bolts to attach the Roadmaster clevis to the arm ends. The instructions clearly state that a clevis bolt was to be installed with the XHD unit, but it was not in the hardware bag. I had to call customer service (which was so/so, almost like the person didn't believe me) and had the bolts sent to me. I received the bolts but long story short, they were too short. They did not come out of the bottom of the locknut and any attempt to torque them to the point they did protrude, caused the forks of the clevis to bend, which is too much stress on such an important piece. I did not feel it was safe to either have the bolts not protrude, or force them to protrude. Then came the days-long process of trying to rectify the situation. I called customer service and attempted to explain the problem to the rep. She didn't really want to hear my problem and I was quickly rushed off the phone and directed to call Roadmaster for support, which I did. Roadmaster, of course, has nothing to do with this bar, or problem (pictures were sent to RM) and I was directed to call eTrailer back. I spoke to another person and she was a little more helpful. However, during our "conversation," I could hardly get a word in (I was spoken over and interrupted constantly.) I was told that #1.) the first person I talked to had no idea what she was talking about #2.) Demco manufactures these parts, not Roadmaster, #3.) Essentially the correct length bolts don't exist in the parts catalog. At this point I am starting to get upset with my experience and just wanted a tow bar that worked. I was convinced to but a Roadmaster branded tow bar to avoid any more issues (Blackhawk All Terrain) which I found to be strange, I figured the margin on the eTrailer branded products would be higher, but I digress. Since there is no exchange program with eTrailer, I had to purchase the Blackhawk outright. I was given a UPS label to send the XHD back, but I had to wait to receive the Blackhawk to reuse the box, which is not a huge deal, a minor inconvenience at this point. As of today (4/26/24) I am still waiting for a refund on this unit which I was assured it would be on it's way once the tracking number showed that it was picked up by UPS, but this is not the case. In conclusion, the XHD seemed like it would be a decent product if they can get the hardware right (at least for the Roadmaster system) it's just heavier than most tow bars I have had experience with. eTrailer.com customer service can also use some work, I was not happy with the service after the sale I received. Oh, and the final kick in the tail, the Blackhawk does not come with safety cables. If this were my company, I would have thrown those in for the inconvenience, but I was offered nothing for the trouble this has caused, no discount on the Blackhawk, cables or anything. I will do all I can to avoid buying from etrailer again and will direct others to the same.

Was simple to install. The only hard part was installing the backing nut with the wire handle. That could be done different.

On the road in our RV when I discovered our 3yr 7mo Blue Ox Tow Bar had a failure that I was not going to be able to use again. I call Willian S at etrailer about getting a new Blue Ox Tow Bar and having it shipped to a nearby UPS store. William checked to ensure it would be delivered before our scheduled departure. Not only did he assure me it would meet the timeline but he checked it after shipping to make sure it got here. Also he checked about a “like new” tow bar which saved me ~$500. Thanks for keeping me on the road without delay!

I ordered this tow bar and D ring adapters specifically for my Bronco and it’s way to sloppy and I can’t use this to tow my Bronco

Couldn’t believe etrailer sent this 2nd day deliver for free but they did. Only reason I didn’t give it five stars is whoever pounded the two Hex nut, top lock flange, 1/2”-13, grade 5 nuts to make them into lock nuts pounded them to hard makin them impossible to tighten even half way, even with impact wrench. Barely got one back off and had to cut the other off. Replaced with a couple of nylocks, washers and blue locktite and all is good now. Not faulting etrailer any at all. This was on Curt. etrailer is excellent. Second time I’ve purchased from them and I’m sure it won’t be the last. Great people to do business with.

Very rugged tow bar. You will need this cover: Roadmaster Tow Bar Cover Item # RM-055-3 because the arms don't lock in the short position so they just slide out to the extended lock position when stowed without a cover.

Have not used this yet but it gives me all the features I was looking for including the 1.5 inch lift . Note that the unit came in the lower position so if you need height you have to reverse the head. It is not that hard to do and just take your time and connect to the back end of the Rv to start the process.

This is a great towbar! I deliver motorhomes professionally and I did use a Blue Ox that went into the receiver hitch that I had to move from hitch to hitch rain or shine. Now all I have to do is put my small lightweight pintle hitch hook into the receiver and just quickly drop this lunette ring onto it easily, but when I’m not using this at all it’s so easy to just remove the whole towbar from my vehicle. I also like how easy it is to fold up so that it’s all compact and out of the way when it’s stowed on the front of my vehicle. This makes my hooking up and unhooking so quick and easy. The only thing I don’t like is when I end my trip on a downhill or slightly turned it’s hard to get this towbar off of the pintle hitch by myself, but I have done it every time with a little back and forth moving of my vehicle.

I am using this on the front of a UTV to pull around so it is plenty strong for that and is working good. I ordered the pintle version so that I could fabricate a clevis style hitch and use a hitch pin to pull behind a pickup or tractor. I only gave 4 stars because the latch on the left sider sometimes has a hard time latching. I don't know if there is a way to adjust the lock or not.

Having used Roadmaster products for years imagine my surprise when after using my new hitch for only a month the right arm came apart while towing my car. I happened to be looking at it and was able to coast to a stop during a slight uphill grade which prevented my car from any further damage. As it turned out the bolts which hold the arms on had fallen out. Why I don’t know. I was able to use a temporary pin in the slot which allowed me to get to a hardware store where I replaced ALL the bolts holding both arms with grade 8 bolts and nylon locking nuts. The arm slid on the road, ground down a small corner and scuffed the paint but did not compromise the integrity of the hitch. The design works flawlessly even if the quality control could use some closer monitoring. All in all it’s still a great product. As you can see from the photos I doubled up the nylon locking nuts and have had no problems since.

Product shipped without one of the locking pins which caused me to question the overall quality of the product. I contacted etrailer regarding the missing locking pin and explained that the product was worthless without it and was assured that it would be sent immediately. It was sent out the same day with USPS with a one-week expected delivery! Keep in mind the original order (which was very heavy) was here in a couple of days. Given the major inconvenience, etrailer couldn't spring for some expedited shipping! Sad!

We have used this tow hitch / bar for over 12 months now. We have travelled from the west coast to the east coast, to Canada and Mexico, 10's of thousands of Miles. So much that the connectors to the base plate are starting to wear with all of the turns. The tow bar is still in very good condition. We only have 1 issue which is it can get a bit tight if the car is on an angle, either up or down, left to right. But this was a known issue prior to purchase and its very minor. I would buy again! Great product for the cost.
