  • How Much of a Rise do I Need for My 2025 Honda Odyssey for Towing a U-Haul Trailer?
Hello Casey, Getting things ready for a U-Haul, big move coming up? I just looked up how U-Haul says to measure, and it is a little different than how we do it. On the vehicle end we measure from the ground to the inside top of the receiver, then on the trailer end to the bottom of the coupler. Since you have a 2" receiver and measured to the middle, that puts you at 14", and on the U-Haul side they measure to the middle and it is a 2" ball, so that would be 17". When I subtract the 17-14,...

  • Will Curt Trailer Hitch # 14001 Fit a 1992 Ford F-150 Flareside
I spoke with my contact at Curt and he stated that the Curt Trailer Hitch, # 14001, will fit your 1992 Ford F-150 flareside. I have included a link to the installation details below. There are cab and chassis models that have a 34 inch frame. If you plan on doing some towing with this hitch you will need a ball mount, hitch ball, and wiring. The recommended ball mount is # 40331, you can use hitch ball # A-90 (2 inch diameter) or # 19286 (2-5/16 inch diameter). For wiring, you will need...

  • Does a Curt Trailer Hitch # 14301 Limit Access to the Spare Tire if Installed on 2013 Chevy 1500
To install the Class IV Curt trailer hitch # 14301 on your 2013 Chevy 1500 you will need to temporarily remove the spare tire for accessibility to the hitch mounting locations. After installation is complete and the spare tire is re-installed you will not have any issues with accessibility or clearance around the full size spare tire when mounted in the factory location. I have included a photo of this hitch installed on a slightly older Chevy truck, and you can see that there is no interference...

  • Extra-Long 2-1/2-Inch Ball Mount Rated for at Least 15,000-lbs
We offer both fixed and adjustable ball mounts that will fit a 2-1/2-inch hitch like the one on your 2016 Ford F-350 Super Duty and you can see them all on the linked page. We do offer an extra-long fixed ball mount rated for 16K, part # BWBMHD30214, that has either a rise or drop of 6-inches. This ball mount uses a 5/8-inch hitch pin or lock such as # C21510 or # e98881, and it takes a hitch ball with a 1-1/4-inch shank diameter such as # C40030.

  • Availability of Ball Mount With 3" Rise/Drop
I'm not sure if you're looking for a 3" rise or drop but we have options for both so you don't need to worry about being off by an inch. For a ball mount with a 3" rise you can use the # 40331. You will also need # C48810 for a 1-7/8", # A-90 for a 2", or # 19286 for a 2-5/16" hitch ball. If you need a drop you can use the # TS64FR. This has a 3-1/4" drop but the 1/4" difference won't be noticeable.

  • Is There a Sleeve For my 2-1/2 inch Ford F350 Super Duty Hitch So I can Use 2 Inch Accesorries
2-1/2 inch hitch opening are used on hitches that are Class V, and are designed to haul large heavy trailers. In order to reduce your hitch down to a 2 inch diameter opening on your new Ford F-350 Super Duty you would need to purchase a Curt Reducer Sleeve 2-1/2 inch to 2 inch, part # C45405. You should take note that Ford OEM hitches have a tighter/different radius on their 2-1/2 inch receiver tubes. To accommodate the OEM Ford 2-1/2 inch hitch, the corners of a ball mount, shank or...

  • Hitch Recommendation For 2011 Ford F-250 Super Duty Towing a Jayco 33RLDS Travel Trailer
There are two sizes of hitches you can install on your 2011 Ford F-250 Super Duty Diesel. There is a 2-inch receiver hitch and a 2-1/2 inch receiver hitch. The towing capacity on a 2011 Ford F-250 Super Duty Diesel will range from 12,500 lbs to 14,000 lbs depending on the model ( Regular Cab, Super Cab, or Crew Cab) of your vehicle. A 2-inch hitch would be sufficient enough for that towing capacity range. I would recommend the CURT Class V 2 Inch Hitch, part # C15410. This hitch has...

  • Comparing Class III and Class IV Trailer Hitches for a 2008 Ford F-150
There are going to be several differences between a Class III trailer hitch and a Class IV trailer hitch like Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 41933. One difference is how each attaches to the truck. The Class IV hitch requires more attachment points. I have included a link to the installation details for this hitch below that better illustrates where and how the hitch attaches to the truck. Even though there may be more attachment points, we still have the install difficulty rated at a 3 out...

  • Fit of Draw-Tite Class IV Part # 41943 on 2003 Ford F550 with 34-1/4 Frame Measurement
The Draw-Tite Class IV Hitch, part # 41943 will fit the rivet configuration you mentioned (see figure # 3 in the instructions I have linked to). I checked with one of my contacts at Draw-Tite, who tells me that this hitch will work with the 34-1/4 frame measurement. That 1/4 inch is within acceptable tolerances, so the hitch should fit just fine for you. You might also need the following: Ball Mount with 3 inch rise or 4 inch drop, part # 40331 2 inch trailer ball, part # A-90 2-5/16...

You might not need a hitch extender or weight distribution. It is possible that a long ball mount will have the length needed to provide clearance for towing the trailer. Ball mount # 40331 measures 9-1/4 inches from the center of the pin hole to the center of the ball hole. It is rated for 16,000 pounds gross trailer weight and it has a 3 inch rise or 4 inch drop. • Will Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 41938 Fit a 1986 Chevy K Series Pickup Truck
On the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 41938, the 8 bolts used to attach the hitch each go into the frame rails on the truck. When I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite he gave a much more clear description of what you will need for this hitch to mount to your truck. Basically, the hitch is 19 inches long. If you measure from the end of the frame rails at the rear of the truck towards the front, you will need at least 19 inches with nothing in the way in order for the hitch to fit. I have included...

  • Selecting a Hitch Ball and Brake Controller for a 2007 Ford F-150 Towing a Car Hauler
Before selecting the appropriate hitch ball and ball mount, you will want to check the gross trailer weight, GTW, and tongue weight, TW, capacities of your 2007 Ford F-150 and your trailer hitch. If you are going to be towing a car hauler, then you will want a ball and mount with the highest possible GTW and TW that is compatible with your truck and trailer hitch. I would definitely recommend a 2-5/16 hitch ball with a 1-1/4 inch shank like the Curt Trailer Hitch Ball, part # 63840, and...

  • How to Measure for Rise or Drop Needed to Choose a Ball Mount to Tow a Trailer Level
The typical way to determine how much rise or drop is needed to tow a trailer level is to park the truck and trailer on level ground and take some measurements. Since you do not have the trailer but do have a measurement we can still figure it out. We tell folks to measure from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler when the coupler is level and from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on the tow vehicle. The difference is the amount of rise or drop you will need. The...

What they may have been referring to is if your 2003 Chevy Silverado has a deep drop bumper or lift gate installed, there are certain hitches that will and will not fit. No matter what style you have, there will be a trailer hitch that will fit. The Draw-Tite...
