  • Are Solid Shank Ball Mounts Better Than Those with a Hollow Shank
You can absolutely trust the manufacturer ratings for the ball mounts we have available, regardless of whether or not they feature a solid or hollow shank. Ball mounts and other towing products are typically tested well beyond their actual listed capacities, so you can be sure they can handle the specificied maximums without issue. You will just need to make sure that the various other components of your towing system can also support the weights you are looking to pull, such as the trailer...

  • Is The Curt Forged Ball Mount C45458 Still Rated For 20K When Used In Rise Position?
Hello David, thanks for reaching out. Yes, the Curt Forged Ball Mount # C45458 is rated for 20,000 when used in the rise position. The 20,000 lb rating applies to the drop or the rise position.

  • Recommended Ball Mount with 4" Drop for a 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver
The Roadmaster High-Low Adapter part # RM-058-4 is designed for flat towing applications and is not rated for the tongue weight associated with straight pull towing. If you need a ball mount with a 4" drop then I recommending using the Curt Forged Ball Mount part # C45458. As long as you have a 2-1/2" trailer hitch receiver on your 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 then this ball mount will work well for you. If you have a standard 2" trailer hitch receiver then you will want to use the Curt...

  • Determining Proper Trailer Ball Height
In order to determine what rise/drop ball mount you need, you'll need to take some measurements. Measure the distance from the inside top of the receiver opening to the ground. Then with a level trailer, measure the distance from the underside of the coupler to the ground. The difference between these two measurements will be the rise/drop you'll need. If the hitch is higher than the coupler, you'll need a drop. If the coupler is taller than the hitch, you'll need a ball mount with a rise....

  • Is there a Ball Mount Larger than a Class V 2-1/2 Inch
If your hitch receiver opening is larger than 2-1/2 inches then the next step up is a 3 inch if you are talking about physical size and not capacity. The 3 inch ball mount you need is # 40701 if this is the case. The hitch ball to fit is # C40085. This is not a common size though so I do recommend verifying the size of the receiver opening on the hitch. I have also included a link to our ball mount main page. If you mean capacity then the highest capacity 2-1/2 inch ball mount that we...

  • How Long Should Hitch Ball Shank Be to Fit Curt Forged Ball Mount # C45458
The 2-1/2 inch shank length on B&W ball # BWHB94004 might be just a bit too short for ball mount # C45458. The recommended ball, # C40008, has a shank length of 2-3/4 inches. Basically the shank has to be long enough for the nut to thread all the way on with about 3 or more threads sticking out past the bottom of the nut.

  • Recommended Pintle Hitch and Lunette Ring for 2015 Ford F-750 with 23,800 lb Trailer
For your 2015 Ford F750 boom truck, there is not a ball mount rated for that weight capacity. The largest capacity is 20K for a 2-1/2 inch hitch like # C45458 or 21K for a 3 inch hitch receiver like # C45430. We don't have a trailer hitch receiver rated that high either. It appears the truck does have the towing capacity to handle that trailer, but you will need to use a direct mount like the Curt Pintle Hook - Bolt On - 30,000 lbs # C48215. A pintle hook and lunette ring combination...

  • Diameter of Hitch Ball Hole for Curt Ball Mount # C43JR

  • Ball Mount for 2-1/2 inch Hitch that Has 4 inches of Drop
We do have the Curt fixed ball mount part # C45458 which fits a 2-1/2 inch hitch and has a 4 inch drop like you said you needed. I attached a review video for this ball mount for you to check out as well.

  • What is Hitch Pin Size for Curt # 45458 Class-V Hitch
The Curt # C45458 ball mount uses a 5/8" hitch pin with clip or locking mechanism. For a simple pin and clip, you can use the Draw-Tite # PC3, or if you prefer a locking hitch pin I recommend the Fastway # FA86-00-3050 Receiver Lock. I have attached a link to these product pages and a video review of the BW lock.

  • Will Hitch Balls # 19286 and # A-90 Fit the Curt Forged Ball Mount # C45458
Yes, both of the hitch balls ( # 19286 and # A-90) would have long enough shanks to fit the Curt Forged Ball Mount # C45458. They also have the correct shank diameter of 1-1/4 inch.

  • Stop Battery Drain While Towing 2020 Honda Civic Behind Motorhome
To prevent your 2020 Honda Civic coupe (with manual transmission) battery from draining while towed you need a Roadmaster # RM-156-25 Battery Charge Line Kit. This line runs from your Honda's battery to the center post of your six pin connector on the front of your Honda. You installed this 6-pin connector as part of your previous install of the Roadmaster RM-15267 kit. I have attached a link to the charge line kit page and to an installation video. When you have the 6-pin connector...

  • How to Add Friction Sway Control Tab to Side of Curt Ball Mount # C45458
The # RP26003 would not fit the Curt ball mount part # C45458 as the ball hole of the ball mount is too big for the # RP26003. Instead you'd need to weld on the tab # 3442 to attach it.

  • Anti-Sway Options for Towing 33 Foot Camper
It is true that we recommend using 2 friction anti-sway systems like the Curt # 17200 when the trailer exceeds 26' long. This is simply because 1 system won't be effective enough to make a difference. I believe that you are referring to the Curt Forged Ball Mount # C45458 which has a 4" drop and fits 2-1/2" hitch receivers. You can have 2 of the weld-on sway control tab # C45822 installed on this ball mount so you can use 2 of the kit # 17200 and it would work just fine. Even though...
