Determining Proper Trailer Ball Height

What is the recommended ball height for towing height from ground to top of ball ?

In order to determine what rise/drop ball mount you need, you'll need to take some measurements. Measure the distance from the inside top of the receiver opening to the ground. Then with a level trailer, measure the distance from the underside of the coupler to the ground. The difference between these two measurements will be the rise/drop you'll need. If the hitch is higher than the coupler, you'll need a drop. If the coupler is taller than the hitch, you'll need a ball mount with a rise. You might not find a ball mount with the exact rise or drop you need, but as long as you're within an inch to an inch and a half of level, you'll be fine.
