Question:
I have two questions about the Curt Shock Absorbing Towing Kit w Sway Control, Wireless Brake Controller - 2-5/16 Ball - 7.5K. 1. Do I have to use the brake controller, as I already have something similar? 2. Do I have to unhook the the bar to back the camper up or can I leave it in place all the time while connected to vehicle of course?

Hello Rob,
Great questions!
The Curt Shock Absorbing Towing Kit w/ Sway Control, Wireless Brake Controller - 2-5/16" Ball - 7.5K # C57DR does not need to be used with the Curt Echo Brake Controller. Since you already have a brake controller, you can purchase the other components separately. You’ll want # C45WR and # 17200.
Regarding the Curt Friction Sway Control for Weight Distribution Systems # 17200, it is recommended that you remove this sway control unit before backing up/reversing or towing in slippery conditions such as wet, icy, gravel, or snow-covered roads.
If you can provide the tongue weight of your trailer, I’d be happy to recommend a weight distribution system that allows for backing up without needing to disconnect the sway control. Feel free to comment with that info below. That said, removing the Curt Friction Sway Control before reversing is a quick and simple process.
