Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 09/06/2025

Question:

Hello, I have a 2007 Tacoma, factory tow package. I like the simplicity of the curt wireless trailer brake / sway control... my question is does this sway control take plpace of weight distribution bars? if not, what bares would work with this sway control or should I run weight distribution bars / hitch without the sway control. Also, the kit that comes with the hitch, im not understanding if the height of is adjustable. Thanks for time!

Yes, it does Chris. The Curt Shock Absorbing Towing Kit w Sway Control item # C57DR includes a friction style sway bar that bolts into the side of your trailer's frame. This would be used instead of a weight distribution system.

The ball mount that is included with the item # C57DR kit is not adjustable. It is a 2" fixed ball mount with 2" of drop.

What kind of trailer do you have? You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.

Hey Chris, did the Curt Shock Absorbing Towing Kit with Sway Control work out for your Tacoma? I'm asking because your experience could help others in a similar situation.
