I purchased this shank to replace the shank that came with my weight distribution hitch. The specs on this one showed an inch and 1/2 longer between the hitch pin hole and the mounting holes for the hitch head. This was just enough to allow my tailgate to open without hitting the head of the electric jack on my trailer. I probably didn’t need the amount of drop this one has but it was the only one I found that had the extra length that I needed.
Shank seems well built and does the job I intended. Trailer was great! Even suggested a different shank when this one was back ordered, but I was willing to wait for this one.
I have used etrailer multiple times and have always been pleased with the product and the service!

by:

I really appreciated the fact that all the dimensions for the shank were available on the website. It made it easy to confirm that the part would work for our application. The website was easy to use and the shank arrived in 3 days, on schedule.

The shank is working as expected. Good product.

by:

This drop bar allowed me to use my existing weight distributing Reese hitch with my lifted truck. Worked great.

by:

It cuts out all of the whip action of the trailer and seems to make it feel as it is all one unit.one of the best purchases I have ever made thanks again

by:

Fast and accurate. Personnel seem to enjoy their jobs. Would purchase again.

@PeterC I do enjoy my job here Peter! I am glad that my fellow coworkers gave you the same vibe. It is nice to work for a company where they want real people here answering the calls and actually helping people, why is this becoming such a rare thing now a days?? I am glad we had the right shank for you. What are you towing around with your weight distribution system? Do you have a favorite campground you would like to share? I am trying to get a good list together to share with other neighbors (customers).

by:

Received order, customer service is great with Etrailer. Amy solved an issue very efficiently. I have ordered from them several times and highly recommend them!

by:

Heavy duty!

by:

Just what I needed to level the camper. The six hole slug that came with the distribution hitch wasn't low enough after installing helper springs on my F150

by:

Needed more drop with new truck. Ordered on Wednesday, arrived on Friday! Greet price AND fast shipping. Customer care and follow up top notch!

by:

The 9 hole Reese shank did what it was designed for, but was not the answer for my situation between my camper hitch & my F 150. But it is very a strong / heavy duty shank with plenty of adjustment.

by:

Awesome works great

by:

Great product and great customer servic e!

by:

Good product but it wouldn't work for my application.

by:

It worked as described and I didn't have to modify anything. So it is perfect!

I get what you're saying but despite that, I think you'll find this to be stout and reliable, Steve :)

by:

worked perfect for what I required.

by:

First, this is about 1.5" longer than the original and allows me a better turning radius. Second, this hit the sweet spot for my trailer being level. No more creaking on Sundays when leaving camp. It arrived 2 days earlier than expected so that was a double bonus.

by:

after 1 year still pulling race trailer up and down the highway. no complaints here great product and was able to adjust tounge on trailer height right where i needed it to be.

by:

Just what I needed.
Lauren A. in customer
service was a great help.
Fast shipping, got hitch 2 days before I was supposed to.

by:

It all came together great. No shim required. Like the other 2 items, super fast shipment. Thank you! If anything else comes up, I know where to go. ETRAILOR!

by:

  • Can Reese WD Head RP58167 Be Mounted To A BulletProof Hitch Ball Mount?
Hello Blaine, thanks for reaching out. BulletProof does sell a sway control 2-ball platform part # BPH76RR which can be used with a friction sway bar like the Reese # 83660. The Replacement Head # RP58167 you were looking at is for the Reese weight distribution system. If you intend to use a Reese WD system you will need to get a WD shank like part # RP69FR. The shank from a BulletProof ball mount like part # MD204 cannot be used with the # RP58167 head. You will need a shank specifically...

  • Looking For Head Unit To Go With Weight Distribution Shank
Hello Justin. It sounds like you have a 2" weigh distribution (WD) shank and you are looking for the head unit to attach a ball. We have several of these available like the Replacement Head for Reese Weight Distribution System # RP58167. This will bolt on to a WD shank and allow you to mount any ball with a 1-1/4" diameter shank such as part # 19286. It would be nice to know what brand your shank is just to confirm the parts will be compatible. The Head unit I mentioned will fit most standard...

  • Recommended WDS for a 2024 16' V-Nose Stealth Enclosed Trailer
Hey Ken, for your 2024 16' Stealth Enclosed V-Nose trailer I recommend installing the Chain Hangers for Reese Weight Distribution Systems # RP58305 which can be bolted onto the frame of your trailer and will allow you to then use a chain style WDS like the Strait-Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # RP66074. This WDS has a tongue weight range of 600 to 1,200 lbs, has a 12,000 lb weight capacity, and uses a chain style hanger. You will also need to use a shank # RP69FR and a ball...

  • Comparing Reese Strait Line And Dual Cam II Weight Distribution Hitches
That is a great question. Both of those are great weight distribution hitches. Between the two, I prefer the Reese Dual Cam II over the Strait Line. The Dual Cam uses an L-bracket to attach to the frame, instead of a chain and lift bracket. L-brackets will be easier to set up, will require less maintenance, and will be more effective than a chain. L-brackets also create less road noise than chains. The Dual Cam has a lot of additional parts, and can be a lot to deal with. Especially when...

  • Trying To Find Weight Distribution Hitch For Tent Trailer With A Crowded A-Frame
Hello Andrew, thanks for reaching out. There is not a lot of room to spare on your trailers tongue. In fact, you would almost certainly have to relocate your battery box and some of your wiring in order to install most weight distribution hitches. There is one different attachment method that would make things easier, and that is to use bolt-on chain hangers from Reese. I suggest that you use the Strait-Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # RP66072. This is made for trailers with...

  • Recommended 12" Shank for a Trailer Life 10k WDS
Hey Pyper, assuming the Trailer Lift WDS you mention uses the standard 1 1/4" hole spacing, the Reese Weight Distribution Shank for 2" Hitches # RP69FR would work great. This ball mount measures 12 1/2" long, has a 1.2K tongue weight capacity, and has 9 adjustment holes. If you have something different, need something else, or this won't work for you, please feel free to drop a comment and let me know!

By using the Reese Shank # RP69FR instead of the shank that comes with the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA94-00-1000 you'll be lowering the drop from 3-1/2" to about 7-1/4". Since each towing setup is unique I can't tell you right off-hand if this is enough drop for your setup, but I can walk you through the process of figuring out if this is the correct setup for you, and what you'll need if it isn't.
