I highly recommend getting a weight distribution hitch with sway control, and the best option for your Forest River travel trailer with a loaded tongue weight near 500 lbs is from Equal-i-zer:
- Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution with 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37061ET
This hitch is rated for loaded tongue weights between 200 lbs and 600 lbs so it has the perfect range for your trailer, and I really like the Equal-i-zer for a number of reasons. One of the best things about it is its superior sway control, created by friction at two points on the brackets as well as in the head unit, which is going to give you a much more controlled (and safe) ride than other options.
As you can see by the hundreds of reviews on the product page of the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution with 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37061ET, our customers who have used it have given it a nearly 5-star rating.
It comes with a 2" hitch ball, but if you need a 2-5/16" hitch ball the correct option is the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # A-6.
The only other thing you will need is a shank, the Reese Weight Distribution Shank for 2" Hitches # RP69FR.
I have added some links below to video reviews for you to check out as well if you'd like to take a look.
