Optronics Load Resistor Dimensions

Hyperflashing (or rapid blinking) of turn signals can occur when you switch from incandescent lights to LED lights. LEDs draw less power than incandescent bulbs, which often causes your vehicle to think that the bulb is burned out or about to burn out. And this is what leads to hyperflashing. This load resistor prevents the LED turn signal light on your truck or trailer from hyperflashing by mimicking the power draw of an incandescent light.

Sounds like you won that fight Don, it must feel amazing to finally have those turn signals and brake lights working like they should! Keep on shining bright :)

Product is as advertised. Good quality. Plug and play. Unfortunately, it did not work to fix the hyper flash and bulb out chime on my 2007 ram 2500. Installed flatbed with LED lights. Bought these to plug into the LED lights. Six total flashing/brake lights on flat bed. Six plug in resistors. Lights work fine. Hype flash and bulb out chime remain. Beware.

David, This does sound uncommon with these load resistors. After a few minutes of use, all 6 load resistors should be hot to the touch, can you please verify this? If one of them is not hot to the touch, that may be defective and could need to be replaced.

by:

They worked great slower the flashers down and took a couple minutes to install. Awesome product

Work great when installing LED lights

by:

Wotks perfectly. Simply amazing. Easy to install. Just plug and play. Doen't show any faults of light control module /LCM/ of my truck 2006 VOLVO VNL430. No rapidly flashers. Exactly how seller explain. Drivers, safe you a lot of money and time at any Volvo dealers to reprogran LCM to works with LED stop, tail and turn lights. If i know that this resistor kit can works with my reverse back white light too /the principle i think is the same/ i can by one more resistor kit for reverse light to complete the back looking style of my truck. One more time big thank you. Strongly recommended to everyone. Fast shipping and delievery too.

by:

These load resistors allowed me to upgrade and convert to LED signal lights! Excellent quality!

by:

Works just as stated

by:

Worked out perfectly! My grandfather had a World War II "Ben Hur" trailer he restored, and he had added led lights. He passed it down to me and my mother.

My old pickup truck did not like working with them, and caused problems even with the transmission shifting. After incorporating these resistors, every time I've had it hooked up and towed it around, everything has worked beautifully, and no more electrical issues!

by:

Item was as described and arrived when it was scheduled to. LED trailer lights worked correctly after installing resistor pack. Having plugs on both ends of the pack made it simple too install.

by:

Worked great. I bought these for my 2015 Silverado 2500 that we put a Bradford built flatbed on that had LEDs causing the blinker to hyperblink. I put one resistor on each side and it fixed it. I did not need 3 per side even though there is 3 lights on each side of the trailer that blink.

by:

they were exactly what i was wanting and they were direct fit like it said.
the easiest thing to use.

by:

This is a great product that makes fixing hyperflash on your flatbed trucks turn signals super easy. The product arrived on time and in good condition. I highly recommend buying this product from etrailer.com if you have LED tail lights and need to fix the quick blinking.

by:

Installed them on my flatbed on my truck. I put one on each side. There’s 3 led ovals on each side. No more hyper flash. Plug and play install. Couldn’t be any easier or happier. Thank you.

by:

Easy install, doesn’t pierce factory wiring. Durable in harsh NW Montana winter conditions mounted on a wrecker body. Zero failure, no corrosion. This product is well worth the price.

by:

Product worked perfectly and was very easy to install with the plugs on either end. Etrailer did a great job communicating about the delivery. Only problem keeping me from 5 stars was a delayed delivery from the mfg in China to Etrailer.

by:

Work good with my semi taillights

by:

Excellent product instant cure for the hyperflash tail lights just a heads up you need 2 per side on gm products

by:

The resistors worked great and will recommend them to everybody. Awesome customer service from a lady name Sheila. Thanks for the quick delivery !

by:

Just what I needed to fix the flashing

by:

Worked as advertised. Great stuff!

by:

They didn't change a thing for me.

by:

This worked great

  • Troubleshooting LED Lights Not Working On Trailer
The first thing I recommend doing is to check that the ground wire for the lights is securely attached to a clean metal surface on the trailer frame. A loose ground wire will keep the lights from working. If the ground attached to the trailer does not give you an adequate ground, you can run the wire up to the ground circuit on the trailer connector. Next, you want to make sure the wiring on the trailer is wired correctly and wired by function, not just by color. I recommend using a...

  • Alarm On My 2022 Ford F-150 Goes Off When I Disconnect Trailer While Truck Is Off - Is This Normal?
Hey Ron, thanks for reaching out. I have heard of this issue with some newer Ford trucks. The low voltage flash issue you are describing is normal. The truck will send a signal to the trailer to check for connection. The low voltage flash will only happen with LED lights and there is really no way around it. The amount of power sent is very small so you really do not need to worry about the battery draining. It is best to disconnect the trailer though, but that leaves us with the issue...

  • New LED Lights Causing Hyperflashing On Flat Bed Truck
Hyperflashing is typically a problem with LED lights being installed on a vehicle that had incandescent bulbs. If that is the case you will need to install load resistors like part # ALEDRST2B on all of the taillights on the flat bed.

  • 2008 Mercedes-Benz ML350 Issue With LED Trailer Lights
Yes. High-efficiency LED type trailer lighting pulls much lower current than standard incandescent lights. This can cause odd behavior from the wiring harness but there's a simple solution to this issue. You can install a load resistor at each affected LED light. Load resistors mimic the electrical signature of incandescent lights to let the trailer wiring work as intended. If your trailer lights use a PL-3 type connector you can use Optronics part # ALEDRST2B. If you need to hard-wire...

  • Solution for LED Boat Trailer Lights Hyperflashing With 2008 BMW X5
You are correct that you should not submerge load resistors such as the Optronics Load Resistor for LED Lights # ALEDRST2B you mentioned but there are a couple of solutions that won't require you to switch from LED to incandescent. The first would be if your 2008 BMW X5 has a 7-way; if so you can use the 7-Way to 5-Way/4-Way Trailer Adapter for Vehicles with Lamp-Out Sensors Towing Trailers with LEDs # C35FR or Trailer Connector Adapter w/ Lamp-Out Sensor Bypass - 7-Way RV to 7-Way RV...

  • What Resistor Should I Choose For My Incandescent Lights On My 2009 Jeep Wrangler?
The 25 watt Buyers Products Anti-Flicker Harness for Turn Signals # 3375621012 should be more than plenty, however to really decide between this one and the 50 watt version # ALEDRST2B, you'd need to choose the one that is closest to your incandescent light. So if your light is closer to 25 watts, you'll want # 3375621012, and if it is closer to 50 watts you'll want # ALEDRST2B.

  • Recommended Load Resistor Adapter for Hyper Flashing LED Lights on Chevy Flatbed
The Optronics Load Resistor for LED Lights - Male PL-3 Plug and Female PL-3 Plug # ALEDRST2B will create more of a load draw on your system to stop the hyper flashing. I can't give you an exact number needed as it may only require one for each system function. I'd start with one on each side at your tail lights. This will create the needed power draw on your running lights, brake lights, and turn signals.

  • How to Fix Motorhomes Hyperflashing after Installing LED Taillights
Your motorhome must have a bulb out sensor. Becasue LED's draw so much less power than incandescents, the bulb-out sensor thinks the bulb is out and causes the circuit to hyperflash. You'll need to install a load resistor like # ALEDRST2B on each lamp. The resistor would plug inline between your existing PL3 plug and the lamp for a plug and play installation. This assumes you're using the # STL23RB lamp you referenced. If you're using a different lamp, you'd use the # DI34ZR and wire it...
