Question:
2008 ML350. The vehicle was delivered new with trailer hitch from MB. It wont drive LED lights on the trailer - i get that hyper flashing effect on the lights. MB sold me $100 cable to fix this.....no different. I read on this site a number of similar problems and it seems there is an adapter to solve the problem. However my vehicle has a 7 pin flat connector which doesnt seem to be common/available in your connectors. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

Yes. High-efficiency LED type trailer lighting pulls much lower current than standard incandescent lights. This can cause odd behavior from the wiring harness but there's a simple solution to this issue. You can install a load resistor at each affected LED light. Load resistors mimic the electrical signature of incandescent lights to let the trailer wiring work as intended.
If your trailer lights use a PL-3 type connector you can use Optronics part # ALEDRST2B. If you need to hard-wire the load resistors we offer a 2-pack of the ceramic type # DI34ZR.
7 pin flat connectors on not standard and we do not have an adapter. You will need to cut the 7 way off and rewire it to a 7 way standard like # 30717. I've attached a photo to help.
