Michael: Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a quick look at the replacement controller and touch pad assembly for your Solera smart arm RV awning. This is going to replace the control box and nested touch pad on your Solera smart arm RV awning, and if you have any of those upgrades on your awning, like your wind sensor which is going to automatically retract the awning if there's high winds or your LED light kit, or even the infrared security sensor, you're going to be able to control all of those with the buttons on the screen here. So if you have any of those or all of those add-ons, you can use this to control those features.Because this is a Lippert product, you can trust that there's not going to be any sort of compatibility issues or anything like that. It's the same company that makes your Solera smart arm, so they know what they're doing. Be able to just plug it right in and be able to control that smart arm.
So if you're needing a replacement, this is what I would recommend. Replaces the control box and nested touchpad on your Solera Smart Arm RV awning.We purchased a replacement in 2023, and now have to purchase another because this one has already crashed. One minute we are told ot had a warranty, and then another time we are told not. This is too expensive an item to not be covered. If this second replacement fails too, then we will NEVER purchase again. It says it last through all kinds of weather, but that is not true at all.

Shipping was on time. Received item, but was lacking instructions for installation. I had to go online to get the instructions. I could not install the item because the wiring harness had been damaged and was not operable. This will delay my evaluation of the controller.
Failed out of box. Likely because the paper bag it was shipped in looked like it was run over 12 times before I got it. I’ll be requesting a refund.

This is the third controller I've had to replace on this awning. This time I followed all the processes to prevent moisture from getting into it. I hope this is now a longer term fix. Trailer did a great job getting the replacement to me.
Product didnt last 30 days. This is the 3rd one I've been through and you won't warranty it. Needless to say I won't be ordering from etrailer again.
Product works but your shipping process needs work, I paid for 1st day air, it shipped on February 25 should have received it on February 28 but the actual label was not created until the 28th. So that delayed it another day causing me to lose a sell on a camper. Now I’m out the shopping cost and camper did not sell!

I can see this is your third time purchasing this Touchpad and they are not cheap. I would also be frustrated if I were in your situation. I also see that these had a recall on them back in 2018 and this part replaced the old one. I contacted Lippert for you and the touchpads DO have a 1-year warranty. You mention they are supposed to be weatherproof. Lippert still strongly recommends to seal the touchpad with liquid tape. I have attached a bulletin below from Lippert. I would most definitely follow this advice for your new touchpad. Also, they are willing to help you with a warranty claim on your touchpad from February. I will help you through the warranty process with Lippert if you provide the info I asked for in my email.
