Question:

I have the Solera 12v Power Awning that did not come with the smart arm keypad, but does have the extend and retract button and is wired into the RV. It appears the only different is this keypad is missing. Can it be added to make the awning capable of closing automatically at high winds?

That's an excellent question, so I reached out to the manufacturer, who told me you would not be able to convert your standard Solera power awning to the Smart Arm by adding the Replacement Controller and Touchpad # LC717666. They said you will need the conversion kit with new awning arms because the Smart Arm has different wiring than the standard power awning, allow for its functions.

So you can convert to the Smart Arm awning and add the wind sensor with the conversion kit, and you just need to measure the space you have on your RV wall where the awning arms mount to get the right length. You will need either 63 inches or 69 inches of space straight down, and that will allow you to mount one of the Smart Arm conversion kits:
