Video Transcript for Review of Derale Lighted On Off Switch - D16740

Today we'll be taking a look at the Derale Lighted On-Off Switch for electric fans. Now this can be used for really just about any kind of on off switch that you'd need or it is designed to be used with the Derale electric fans, gives us that satisfying click. We'll know that little dot means that it's on, and then whenever it's turned away from there it'll be off. There's three prongs on the back to give us our functions. Two of them will be to actually power the switch to turn our on and off. One would be for ground, the other one from the power and then the third will be to power that switch light itself. It's a pretty easy install. Just have those three wiring connections to make or just the two, if you don't need that lighted function.

If you don't want to use this outer housing, it can be removed. We just have a couple of tabs on the inside, push those in and then we can get our switch out and discard that housing. Now you can mount this switch pretty much anywhere you'd want it to be.It measures about five eighths of an inch wide at the outside of this little bezel here. The actual mounting dimension or how big that opening will need to be is about nine-sixteenths, or just over half an inch. The narrow point of our switch is about an inch wide, so that's about how much space you'll need to get that in place, just about an inch there.

And then going back it needs about an inch and a quarter of space to get everything lined up, you might need a little bit more to get your wires on there. Pop that back into our housing. This measures about an inch and three-eighths wide and then about an inch and five-eighths tall. The thicker portion here is about three quarters of an inch. There's two little cut outs to allow your wiring to go down through, and then the narrower portion is about five-sixteenths of an inch wide. This works with 12 volt power and it does come with a one-year warranty from Derale, and that's going to do it for our look at the Derale Lighted On-Off Switch for electric fans..

I needed a low pair of lites for my lawnmower. These worked perfectly for my needs. Delivery was very quick. I have bought from Etrailer in the past with same results on trailer hitch accessories. Customer Service is great. 852351

  • Replacement Switch for Dome Light in Camper
I do have a solution for you, however based on my research, it appears that the exact switch part number 212481 referenced in your question is no longer available from the manufacturer. We do have some replacement switches available that should work with the existing dome light in your camper. I recommend looking at the Derale Lighted On/Off Switch # D16740, which looks very similar to the switch you are needing to replace. This is a 3-Pole, 12 Volt switch that can be used to power...

  • Kill Switch Idea for Powered Landing Gear Jack to Help Deter Theft
You could make a kill switch with something like the Derale switch # D16740 so that when you have this switch off the jacks won't operate. The key will be to hide this switch so that only you'd know where it is. You'd want to install this on the power wire for your current switch's circuit and you'd be set.

  • Could Magnetic Switch of RV Steps be Replaced by Standard Switch
Yes, you could use a physical switch instead of the magnetic switch on your RV steps. Basically the magnetic switches operate in the same way as a standard switch so you'd just need to cut the magnets off of the circuits and then run them to a switch like the # D16740 which will perform the same function.

  • Could LED Flood Light # 3371492139 be Wired to Switch
You would just need to wire the LED Flood Light # 3371492139 to your truck battery through a switch so that you could turn it off and on as needed. For a switch we then have the # D16740 which you could mount on your dash.

  • How Does Progressive Dynamics Lithium Remote Plug-In Shutdown Module Shut Off Converter
Yes you are correct. The module # PD54FR installs on the converter and then you use a switch installed on the wiring to perform the shutting off/on of the converter. When the wires are connected together the converter will turn off and when they are disconnected it will turn on. For a switch you could then use the part # D16740.

  • Does Switch Come with 55-Watt Halogen Area Utility Light # QH16CTS
The 55-Watt Halogen Area Utility Light # QH16CTS would require you to install a switch as it does not come with one. The part # D16740 would work well as a switch. The light grounds through the mounting hardware so you would need to run the switch through the power wire.

  • How to Wire Up Trailer So that Reverse Lights Can Be Used as Auxiliary Lights on Switch
What you would need is a switch like the # D16740, an isolation solenoid part # TR118665 and some wire like # 12-1-1 (sold by the foot). You'd run wire from the positive post of the battery to the terminal on the side of the solenoid and then on the other side run wire to the lights you want to activate. Next you'll run another wire from the battery's positive post to the switch and then from there to the center pin of the solenoid. This will activate the solenoid with the switch and...

  • How to Determine if Derale 32" High-Output, Electric Radiator Fan-and-Shroud Assembly Will Work
Even though the engine components we carry are meant to be a supplement to the OEM components we have heard of people using them as replacements for OEM products. If you want to try using the Derale 32" High-Output, Electric Radiator Fan-and-Shroud Assembly # D16934 as a replacement then you need to make sure the 4,000 CFM (cubic feet per minute) is a high enough rating and that the overall dimensions of this product will fit your aplpication. • 2 Camera Backup System Wiring Without Splicing Into Vehicle
The Rear View Safety Backup Camera System - 2 Camera Setup # RVS-770614 simply needs a 12V power at the cameras and monitors. I'm happy to help with an alternative option for install, but want you to know you are protected by the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act. This act states, in part, that unless the installation and the part caused a problem then the warranty cannot be voided. I recommend looking it up online. • Installing On/Off Switch for Backup Camera Observation System
Since you want to use the Furrion Digital Wireless Observation System when traveling, the best option is normally to wire the camera into your running lights. If you wish add a switch like # PK34513 or # D16740 in line you can simply run that power wire to the battery instead. Unfortunately I don't know where the junction is on your specific trailer, so you will need to trace that wire at least to where you would like to add the switch. If you don't already have the Furrion System,...

  • Can the Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller Be Wired to an On/Off Switch
If you wanted the ability to cut all power to your Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part # 90195 you easily could do this by running a switch on either the power (black), or ground (white), wire although it is not recommended. For a switch you could use the # D16740 and then for 12 gauge wire you could use the # 12-1-1 sold by the foot. This isn't recommended as you'd lose all presets when you cut power to the controller and have to start over every time. For the permanent mount bracket for...

The LED Work Light # UCL24CFB that you referenced wires in pretty easily. The red wire gets 12 volts positive and the black wire goes to a ground and it will light up. You'd want to use a switch like the part # D16740 so that you can switch it off and on as needed. Basically you'd need to wire the switch inline with either the power or ground wire and you'd be set.

  • Can This Unit Be Installed With An Auxiliary Switch To Function When Truck Is Off?
The Performance Tool 12-Volt Heater and Defroster can be left on between power cycles with an auxiliary switch if you desire. It will draw about 13 amps at 12 volts which equals out to about 156 watts, so you will want to take that into consideration for your application. I don't recommend leaving it on for long periods of time as it will eventually drain your vehicle battery and I do recommend having a fuse in line of your system to protect your vehicle and the unit itself. • Wiring for the Third Brake Light and Dome Light for an ARE Camper Shell on a 2012 Nissan Frontier
When installing a camper shell on a truck, typically, there is not a specific wiring harness for the third brake light and dome light. I am not aware of a wiring harness for a Nissan Frontier that will provide those functions for a camper shell. The installation of a camper shell usually consists of using the appropriate lengths of wire for the third brake light and dome light and splicing them into a corresponding circuit on the truck. It would be best to choose the same size wire, so...

As long as the switch can handle the amperage load of two of the heating pads part # 277-000164 yes it would be fine. This heating pad draws 4.8 amps. So the switch would need to be able to accommodate 9.6 amps. The part # D16740 would easily handle the amperage.

The amperage draw of 2 of the 55-Watt Halogen Flood Beam Lights, # QH16CTS, is 9 amps. This should not be a problem for a 12 volt circuit on a 7-Pole. You can check the owners manual and/or the legend on the lid of the power distribution box for the fuse that powers the 12 volt circuit to see what it is rated for to be sure. This light fixture does not come with a remote control, but you could add a 12V transmitter/receiver and remote. We don't carry that, so the best option I can give is a switch like the LED Micro Bug Push Button Toggle Switch - Blue # PL-SW28B or # D16740 to give you access from another location.
