Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires

Bias vs. radial tire graphic

Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.

I ordered these tires for my boat trailer as I have a family fishing trip to go on. And to my surprise they sent me two different size tires. Now I am in a bad situation because I have to take the time that I don’t have to call and explain to these people ( if I can get ahold of a person and not a computer) how they messed up my order. Then send the wrong one back and wait for the right one. In the meantime spend more money at a local tire shop for a cheap tire to get me through my trip. Then when the right tire comes in spend even more money having it installed.

Review from a similar Loadstar Bias in Trailer Tires and Wheels

I was surprised to get an invitation to review these tires about a year after purchase. That is a pretty rare commitment to quality and that makes me a pretty big fan of etrailer that's for sure! When I originally purchase these I recall they were on a back order and took some time to come in, but etrailer was communicative throughout and honored the price at the time of the order even though tire prices were skyrocketing at the time and had gone up considerably by the time they were able to ship. They really are a class act. As for the tires they are great too! I had purchased a couple of sets of load range C tires (4.10-8) on rims locally at a big box store prior to this set and had a bunch of problems. They'd air themselves down because of poor fitment to the rim, and dry-rotted and checked within a year of being on the trailer. These tires on the other hand are excellent in every way. They fit the standard 8" rims properly and hold air and a year later they still look great. They have good side to side traction and handle loading very well. They seem to wear like iron. They are well balanced. I used these as an up-grade option over 4.10-8 Load Range C tires mounting them myself (I've got a manual tire machine) on the same rims after carefully measuring for clearance on the trailer. This was a good choice for me as even though I don't try to overload the trailer these slightly larger tires provide a better ride under a full load and generally are a tougher tire and better riding. They travelled 1,300 to KY from MD and back shortly after I mounted them. While in KY I helped my Mom take down an entire garden shed, hauling it, everything that was in it, and a lot of other junk to the landfill in my small trailer (multiple trips). There were times where if I wasn't overloading the trailer, I was definitely at the bitter edge. I felt a lot more confident with these shoes on the trailer than I ever had with any other. All in all these tires have my confidence and my recommendation!

Review from a similar Loadstar Bias in Trailer Tires and Wheels

Super fast shipping and good phone help as per etrailer! Tire tech had some problem getting one of the tires mounted due to its being compressed for shipping purposes. Maybe a note should be added in listing about this issue or video of technique used to assist the tire tech. Thanks

Review from a similar Loadstar Bias in Trailer Tires and Wheels

I purchased these to replace the tires on my boat trailer. They fit the rim but seemed slightly smaller than the tires I took off. The only other thing I noticed is that the tires were made a few months apart and had slightly different lettering. The font or design was different between the two. Since I only had one on each side, it didn’t really matter. Nobody will ever notice it. The tire was as described and should fit the need perfectly. I have already pulled it a few times but nothing heavy, just a couple hundred pounds max including the trailer.

Best trailer tire on the market in my opinion. I installed these tires on my ATV trailer about a year ago and I see no signs of wear yet.

Nice fresh rubber and larger diameter than the dry rotted tires I removed. Date code on tires less than 6 months old. Installed with two tire spoons and a lot of soap. As ever fast shipping, good prices and excellent service from etrailer.

Tires show no signs of age. They hold air great. As good as the day I installed them. Good product.

Review from a similar Loadstar Bias in Trailer Tires and Wheels

I got this tire for my utility trailer because my old ones dry rotted out and finally started leaking after 28 years. I first replaced the spare and then the two on the trailer. These Kenda tires came in holding good tire and bead shape, not twisted or mangled. I was pleased with that. The went on the rims really easy. I do it by hand using motorcycle tire irons. I also replaced the valve stems. I recommend these Kenda tires.

Review from a similar Loadstar Bias in Trailer Tires and Wheels

This review is more about etrailer than this specific tire. I ordered 4 tires on April 26. I received the shipment, but it was not correct. I wrote to them explaining the situation with a photo showing the problem along with actual words explaining the problem. On April 3rd I received a message reading in part, "I have opened a service ticket in regard to this situation. A new AM10010, K353 bias tire, will be shipped out to you ASAP. We will update you with tracking information via email once the part ships from our warehouse." On April 4th, I received this message, "I just heard back from our reship department and I need to ask you to please send clear pictures of the labels on the tires that you received. So that they can determine that's the way that the tires were received." I responded on April 4 that I had already sent a photo showing how the tires were reviewed. If they do not know how they shipped the tires, that it NOT my problem. It is now June 6. I still do have the proper tires or a return label for the wrong tire. I guess they have enough customers they to not need my business, Remove me from your mailing list.

  • How To Get the Correct Tire Size For a 1985 Scotty Camper
You will want to remove the P165/80D13 tires from your camper because they are only a passenger car tire. A trailer tire will be labeled ST before the tire size to designate a special trailer tire. This will mean the tire is designed with stronger sidewalls to handle the extra loads that a trailer/camper will put on the tire. If you look on the 1985 Scotty Camper identification tag it might include the correct tire size that is recommended for your camper. The correct tire size for your...
