Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Demco Replacement Large Bore Aluminum Master Cylinder w/ Bypass Solenoid

Today we're going to take a look at the Demco replacement large bore aluminum master cylinder with the bypass solenoid for disc brakes. Now this is a replacement large bore aluminum master cylinder, it's designed for use with the Demco trailer brake actuators with the electric reverse lockout. This one is designed to work with the model number is DA66B, DA86, DA91, DA10, DA16, and the DA20 models that are designed for disc brakes. This is an aluminum body which allows for more volume flow than a composite, so it's ideal for triple axle trailers to get brake fluid to the third axle.This one does have the electric reverse lockout on it, that'll let you back up without actuating the trailer brakes. The solenoid will activate automatically when you shift into reverse. You notice there's two wires on there, two black wires.

They do need to be connected. One wire goes to the ground, the other goes to your reverse circuit in your trailer connector, and they're both black wires, so you can use either one for either function.Now this one is the bypass configuration and that you can always notice because you'll see this tube going back into the master cylinder. That means when the solenoid is energized, it will allow the brake fluid to return to the master cylinder. The different other one is the non bypass design. What that would mean is when the solenoid is energized, it prevents the brake fluid from flowing anywhere.
