This hitch is rated for 25,000 lbs gross towing weight and 6,250 lbs vertical load, giving it the backbone for towing large fifth-wheel trailers with confidence. It’s made from sturdy steel with a durable carbide powder coat finish that holds up through miles of heavy hauling. The included base rails and installation kit make it a complete setup that’s ready for serious tow duty.
The interlocking two-piece jaw wraps completely around the king pin for full 360-degree contact. That tight fit cuts down on rattle and movement compared to slide-bar designs, keeping the ride quieter and more stable. It’s the kind of solid hookup you can feel when you pull out—steady, safe, and ready to handle rough roads without the extra clank or play.

The built-in color-coded lock indicator tells you exactly what’s happening at a glance—red means uncoupled, yellow means ready to couple, and green means you’re locked in for towing. The indicators are visible from the cab, so there’s no second-guessing before you hit the road. When you unhook, the handle resets on its own so you’re automatically back in the ready position for the next trip.
The fully articulating torsion head helps absorb road shock and keeps coupling smooth and controlled. It self-aligns during hookup to make connecting easier and ensures a quiet ride once you’re rolling. Less bounce and noise mean less strain on both truck and trailer—just steady towing mile after mile.
When it’s time to open up your truck bed, a single pin lets one person lift off the hitch head without wrestling with tools or hardware. The modular design makes storage easier when you’re not towing, so switching between hauling mode and everyday use is quick and straightforward.
This fifth-wheel hitch is compatible with rotating pin boxes, such as the Reese Sidewinder, Reese Revolution, and 5th Airborne Sidewinder, only when used with a wedge (sold separately).

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails. Now, these base rails will install in your truck bed. And they provide the necessary attachment points for your fifth wheel hitch installation. Now, when these rails are used with the CURT's Custom Mounting Brackets, which we sell separate on a website, these rails will cut in half the time it takes to install your fifth wheel trailer hitch.
We mentioned the finish on this. I'm gonna zoom in and sort of show it. It's a carbide black finish, sort of like a matte black finish, so it matches the finish if you use it on the CURT Q5 20K Fifth Wheel Hitch. Now, these rails are universal, so they will work with the following fifth wheel hitches. They work with the CURT brand, the Draw-Tite, the Hidden Hitch, the Reese, and even the Husky.
This part here will include the two base rails. Now, we mentioned the mounting brackets, the custom mounting brackets, the hardware, and an installation kit is all sold separately. The length on these rails, if we put a tape measure on them from one end to the other, right at 43 inches long. But that should do it for the review on the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails.
