Reese's outboard installation kit for your fifth-wheel trailer hitch was designed with safety and convenience in mind. Just like the original custom mounting brackets, these brackets install using existing holes in the truck frame, minimizing installation time. The biggest difference with this outboard kit is the extended-length rails. These above-bed rails are 5 inches longer than standard, universal fifth-wheel rails so that they will match up with the mounting points on the brackets, which sit below the bed and outside of your truck's frame. The result is a much simpler installation process, wherein most underbed components can be easily avoided. Because you are working outside the frame rails, you also have easier access with your tools and more room to work, making the whole process less of a pain.
The base rails included in this installation kit feature a standard 10-bolt design. Each of these rails attaches to the underbed brackets with two carriage bolts at both ends. A single bolt is used in the center of each rail to further secure it in your truck bed. The result is a set of base rails that remains firmly in place thanks to 10 points of contact.
This entire installation kit is built to be SAE J2638 compliant and has been extensively tested per specified accelerated-life-cycle criteria for fifth-wheel trailer hitches. The requirements for testing are based on the European-style test of 900,000 cycles, making this testing process among the most thorough and intensive in the industry.

Good solid product. Heavy gauge steel parts. Loved having the brackets bolt to existing frame holes. Did not want to drill holes in the frame, and not sure there would have been room. 5 stars for the product. The instructions could have used some more details, but Etrailer's video helped a lot. Not possible to get a torque wrench on some of the bolts due to clearances under the truck, but did my best with a box wrench. Will re-check them after the first trip.
Instructions measurements are off for the holes to drill in the bed. Otherwise good kit. We did NOT drop tire or heat shield but did remove wheel well covers.
Install was straight forward and instructions were well written. Several fasteners are only hand tool only as spacing didn't permit power tool use! Torquing to required specs was guess, but haven't had noted any loosening of fasteners to date! This is the 3rd hitch installed in 3 different trucks. Very happy with continued hitch model product!!!

I was in dire straits needing a special bracket to install my 5th wheel hitch in my 2015 2500 Ram truck up here in Alaska. I ordered it with overnight shipping as we were going on a trip in two days. After I placed the order on-line, I called to ensure I would get the item the next day. The folks at e-trailer were very helpful, walking the order through by hand and lo and behold, I had the bracket the next day. They even called me to personally let me know it was on the way. This is the way customer service "used" to be and should be!
Had a problem with the shipping carrier. etrailer's customer support was quick to get problem resolved and get my items to me. The mounting kit with rails fit like a glove. I am very pleased with the product and the customer service. I would recommend doing business with this company.
Installed these rails in my 2016 RAM 2500. Great quality, super beefy and the direct fit brackets helped move the install right along. Took approximately 4hrs with a helper having never done it before and with basic garage tools.
This is my second truck for putting in fifth wheel system and I used the Reese quick install this time. I would recommend this style to anyone it took about 3hrs to install with no help. The only thing I wished the kit had carriage bolts where the spacer in row 3 went just so all bolts were the same.

The Reese Quick Install Rails are anything but Quick. To install them in a Dodge truck you must drill a number of holes 2 of which are 1 1/4" holes in the bed of your truck. Once everthing is installed it works great but you may want to set aside 2 to 4 hours to get this done.
Side note, when the kit came it was short 2 of the M14 bolts. Had to go the local hardware store to get those after I started the install. You may want to over your parts list before you start.
Also the boxes are very rails are very heavy and they boxes they ship in are light. The end of the boxes were open and the rails were sticking out the ends of the box.
