Question:
Hi, Im new to the 5th wheel world, and want to be sure Im buying the correct parts before moving forward. I just bought a used 2016 Ram 2500 Bighorn Mega Cab 4x4 truck with 6-1/2' bed, and looking at a 5th wheel trailer as we speak. I have no rails visible in the truck bed, but do have a socket for a hitch ball, located in the center of the bed. I also have the hitch ball that fits the socket. The trailer were looking at has a pin box up front. So, will this kit be correct for my needs along with a compatible 5th wheel hitch? Thanks for helping a newbie. :

Thank you for the pictures!
It looks like you have the Curt Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # C60614 installed on your 2016 Ram 2500. If this is the case then you can definitely install the Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Installation Kit # RP56009-53. I spoke with my contact at Cequent (who owns Reese and Draw-Tite) and he said that you can install the Draw-Tite # 9467 with the Outboard kit so it will fit with the Curt option.
The only issue that I see you having is fitting 5th wheel rails and a hitch with your toolbox still installed. From your pictures I believe that the rails are going to sit pretty close to the toolbox and most 5th wheel hitches sit out a little further than the rails.
Since you have a 6-1/2' bed we do recommend using a sliding 5th wheel hitch so that you have trailer-to-cab clearance when making tight turns. If you would like a manually operated 5th wheel hitch then I highly recommend the B&W Patriot # BWRVK3270. It has 12" of travel, a gross towing weight of 18,000 lbs, and is made right here in the USA.
If you would rather go with an autosliding 5th wheel hitch to keep from having to get in and out of the truck to lock/unlock your hitch when making tight turns then the Demco Hijacker # DM8550034 is the best option out there. Is provides you with 14" of travel, a gross towing weight of 18,000 lbs, and is also made in the USA.
Something else that you might consider installing in the bed of your Ram is a 7-Way like part # 50-97-410 if you don't already have one. This makes connecting and disconnecting the wiring on your trailer much easier.
I have attahced some videos for you to check out as well as some installation instructions.
