Comparing Curt Hitches C25FV And C74MJ For 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV

Products Featured in This Question

Question:

Hello, You have 2 listings for CURT trailer hitches for the 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV: 13627 and 13568. I have a few questions about these: -can you tell me the difference between these it appears that 13568 requires hole enlargement and may have limited stock but 13627 does not - it seems that the installation of 13627 may be slightly easier -do both 13627 and 13568 fit the PHEV plug-in hybrid 2024 Mazda CX-90 -will the installation of the hitch interfere with the lift gate kick sensor? Thank you.

Hello David, thanks for reaching out. Sounds like you are on the right track here. Both the Curt # C25FV (13568) and # C74MJ (13627) will fit all models of the 2024 CX-90 and this includes the PHEV plug-in hybrid model. This is actually a rare case where Curt offers two different hitches for the same make and model of vehicle. They both have the same weight capacity so the only real difference is now then install. The # C74MJ uses just four bolts that thread into existing weldnuts on the frame. The # C25FV requires you to fish fasteners inside the frame. This makes the Curt # C74MJ the clear choice, especially if you plan to install this yourself.

As far as the kick sensor, the receiver will partially block the sensor, but it will still function. In most cases what you have to do is wave your foot to either side of the receiver to get it to activate. So it will still work, it will just work a bit differently.

Hello Jessie, Did you mean to say that C74MJ (you said C25FV) is the clear choice because it threads into existing weldnuts? I just wanted to clarify. Thanks.

@David Oh gosh yes that is what I mean. I got the part numbers mixed up! The Curt # C74MJ will be the easier install with just 4 bolts and existing weldnuts. Sorry to add to the confusion lol I will go back and edit that.
