Does Installing Hitch and Trailer Wiring on 2024 Mazda CX-90 Require Trip to the Dealer

Question:

I am trying to add a hitch to a 2024 Mazda cx-90 turbo s premium plus. I know the car has a towing mode already with the mi-drive and from chatGPT , take with big grain of slat, that software in the car gets activated with adding a Mazda hitch. Have you installed hitches on the CX 90 to know if this is true or if I can use your products or if the dealer needs to do some software activation. Appreciate your help Carlos

Hey Carlos, installing a hitch on your 2024 Mazda CX-90 like the Curt # C74MJ will not automatically change anything electronically on your vehicle. It doesn't have a way to sense anything like that. Most likely the confusion is related to trailer wiring. Which we have kits that fit your vehicle like the Tekonsha part # TK63DR that do not require any trips to the dealer. This installs by connecting inline with the taillights of the vehicle and also doesn't activate anything in the vehicle's wiring as it is its own independent system.

So if you went with the hitch and wiring I mentioned you wouldn't have to make any trips to the dealer.
