Comparing The etrailer # e99044 And Big Truck Big RV # BTBRV44FR Tongue Weight Scales
Question:
How does this TW scale compare to the ETrailer brand TW Scale in terms of quality, accuracy and repeatability? I realize this Big Truck TW Scale doesn’t have the modularity/configurability,, but can you not also use it to measure TW under the Jack while connected to the tow vehicle for weight distribution hitch adjustment? Hey Al,
Having used both I can confirm that the Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale w/ Storage Bag for Trailers # BTBRV44FR has been the better choice over the etrailer # e99044. This scale utilizes a different gauge that doesn't seem to have the same accuracy issues the fluid filled gauge of the # e99044 did. Jake did the video for this scale (which I've attached below) and took the # BTBRV44FR to a CAT scale to see if it was reading accurately and each time he tested it he got the same weight.
The ability to switch the etrailer scale around to connect to the trailer jack is nice but the quick latch height adjustment of the # BTBRV44FR makes the process a lot quicker.
When measuring tongue weight of your trailer the trailer should be fully packed but not connected to the tow vehicle. You'd place the head of the # BTBRV44FR into the trailer coupler and lower the trailer down until it's level and resting on the scale.
