Why Would My Hopkins Break Away Switch Blink
Question:
Why would my break away switch light blink?

I contacted Hopkins and the only reason that the LED light on the Hopkins break away switch part # HM20060 would blink is because of a partial connection somewhere on the setup. The light should not illuminate if you have a proper connection at the pin and wiring.
If you wiggle the pin and the light blinks then the pin may not be properly seated. You want to push the pin in and make sure it is completely inside the box.
If the pin is properly seated, you want to check the wiring specifically the white ground wire. If you spliced the ground wire from the breakaway to the main trailer ground wire make sure there they are connected. If you are using a junction box with a ring terminal you want to make sure the ground ring terminal is seated on the stud.
Another reason the light may blink is the blue and black wires are reversed. The blue wire splices into the electric brake wire and the black wire splices into the 12V power wire. I have attached an installation video for your reference.
