I spoke with my contact at Hopkins, and he said that the yellow light on the Engager Breakaway Kit # 20099 should not be flashing. It is designed to stay constantly lit when hooked up to the tow vehicle and charging. He said if the light is flashing on your it then it's possible that it's getting pulses of 12V power for some reason instead of a constant input when hooked up.
I recommend first testing the 12V wire coming from the back of the trailer's 7-Way when it's hooked up with a circuit tester like # PTW2993. See if it flashes like the yellow light indicating sporadic power output. If so you will want to check your wiring for any pinched or exposed areas, replacing as needed. Also inspect the trailer and vehicle side 7-Way connector for any debris or corrosion that needs to be cleaned out.
If the 12V wire tested okay, then there might be a problem with the internal circuit board on the Engager. If this is the case, it will need to be replaced but it would fall under warranty.
