Question:
You show what I believe to be a voltage regulator or diode in the kit that is not talked about in the video. It is a hermetically sealed component with three wires and I believe it has a diode so current from the vehicles battery can maintain the trailer battery, but current will not flow back from the trailer battery to the vehicles battery. It also carries the current from the trailer battery to breakaway switch through the blue wire. Is this correct? In the video you talk about connecting the breakaway switch to the vehicles power wire, but shouldnt the voltage regulator, diode, or whatever you call the three wire component, go between the vehicles 12 volt power wire and the breakaway switch? If not, then what does that three wire component do that is in the HM20001 kit as I did not see it in the video.

Expert Reply:
The 3 wire component is the charger and receives 12V power from the vehicle connector and charges the breakaway battery. Now the blue wire coming off the charger will go out to the breakaway switch.
I included a video on a similar charger # 20011 for you to look at. It will have the same functions as your charger.
