etrailer Trailer Hubs and Drums - Hub with Integrated Drum - AKHD-545-35-EZ-K Review

Today, we're going to take a look at the 10 inch pre-greased trailer hub and drum assembly for 3,500 pound easy lube axles. This has the five on four and a half inch bolt pattern. Now this trailer hub and drum assembly will provide the surface area for your brake shoes to grip when the brakes are activated. It is compatible with both electric brakes and hydraulic drum brakes. And this is a pre-greased hub and drum assembly, which is very easy to install. And because it's free grease, there's no need to pack the bearings with grease to install it. And it comes already packed just like this from the factory.

It does include the pre-greased inner bearing, pre-greased outer bearing. The bearing races are all pre-installed.Also on the back here, if I pop this cover off, you can see they even have the grease seal installed in there with the grease in it.It does come with two grease caps. It comes with the cap for the easy lube axle and in a standard cap. And it also comes with five of the half inch by 20 size lug nuts. Now this hub and drum assembly will fit the easy lube trailer axles and the easy lube axle is one that has the grease circ fitting that's on the end of the spindle and allows you to grease the bearings without having to remove the complete hub assembly from the axle. That's why they do include this easy lube compatible grease cap that'll go right here.

Makes lubricating your bearings fast and easy. It has a removable rubber plug that should just pop out. So when it's installed, just pull the plug out. That'll give you access to that circ fitting. Put your grease gun in there.

Pump the grease in there. Put the plug back in. You're all ready to go. So you don't have to take apart your hub. This is a sturdy iron construction. They do use zinc enriched paint on the drum to add durability.

And the studs right here that the lugs go lug nuts go on, they are zinc finished to resist corrosion. It says QAI and CSA certified.Again, the application for this is 3,500 pound easy lube trailer axles with the number 84 spindles. It is compatible with standard axles for most manufacturers, including Dexter Lippert and Alco.Actual drum dimensions on this on the inside, when we say 10 inch, that's the diameter. So if we measure across, you can see there's your 10 inch diameter. The width or depth of it is right at two and a half inches. And it is designed to work with 10 inch brake assemblies. The bolt pattern we mentioned is a five on four and a half inch bolt pattern. The wheel studs that the lug nuts go on, they're a half inch diameter. And the weight capacity on this one is 1,750 pounds. So when this one's matched with one on the other side of the axle, it'll meet your 3,500 pound axle capacity. The bearings on this, the inner bearing that's installed is part number L68149. Outer bearing is L44649. The grease seal that's installed is 58846. And then on the caps, the standard cap is part number F001518. The easy lube cap and plug is DC200L-DCRP. And the lug nuts have a part number of CE11051.But that should do it for the review on the 10 inch pre-greased trailer hub and drum assembly for 3,500 pound easy lube axles with the five on four and a half inch bolt pattern.
