Titan Chain Cable Tire Chains Review - 2014 BMW X5

Today on our 2014 BMW X5, we'll be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Titan Chain Cables and the Tire Chains, Part Number TC2029. Keep in mind that this is being used as tire size 255/55r18. The Titan Chain Tire Chains are cable-style tire chains that provide good traction in light snow and the rollers wrap around cables to provide cross chains. The ladder pattern of the chains assists with effective starts and stops and these chains are constructed of a low carbon steel construction making them strong and durable. These are SAE Class Se chains for vehicles with limited wheel well clearance and have a re-usable storage bag. These chains have a maximum speed rating of 30 miles per hour and come in a quantity of two. They're quick and easy to install. We'll show how to do that now. I've gone ahead and laid out my chains just to make sure there aren't any kinks or breaks in the lines.

2014 BMW X5 Questions and Answers

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2014 BMW X5
  • Let's first start with a hitch, for that I would recommend the Draw Tite Hitch part # 75600. I attached an install video for you to check out as well. Now for trailer wiring you would want the Tow Ready Harness part # 119190KIT. This is a hardwire option that would be quite a bit cheaper than what BMW quoted you. Install video attached for this as well. For ball mounts I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and...

  • Weight Capacity of Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack for 2014 BMW X5 # RRVA137S-2 and # RRSX024
  • Roof rack manufacturers like Rhino-Rack design racks that will fit more than one vehicle and naturally there are variances in how much weight any given vehicle can handle. In the case of the 2014 BMW X5 the maximum safe weight load for the rack consisting of parts # RRVA137S-2 and # RRSX024 is 165-lbs, unless your owner's manual or dealership advise otherwise. In another application on a different vehicle this rack may be rated for more weight, but in any case the lowest-rated item in a...

  • Solution for Backup Sensor Alerts on a 2014 BMW X5 When Carrying a Bike Rack
  • Yes it would, your 2014 BMW X5 will disable the backup alert system when it senses a trailer connected to the trailer wiring. So the load resistors in the 7-Way to 5-Way and 4-Way Trailer Adapter # TR20141 that you referenced would trick the vehicle into thinking a trailer is connected and and the sensors would not activate because of the brake controller. Another trick that people use with your vehicle is to tape over the sensors with masking tape.

  • Will Installing a Class III Trailer Hitch Void the Warranty on a 2014 BMW X5
  • If your dealer is doing the trailer hitch installation then prior to having it installed you could ask them. Consumers of aftermarket products are protected by the Federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. The Act states that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle actually caused the probĀlem in question. I have included a link to a video showing an installation...

  • What to Do if the Prodigy RF Brake Controller Will not Pair with a 2014 BMW X5
  • If your 2014 BMW X5 has a 7-Way trailer connector already then you will not need any additional parts. You may not have to have a second vehicle in order to pair the Prodigy RF # 90250. It may pair just fine on its own. It is possible that if you do have a pairing problem you could use electrical tape to tape off the pin in the 5 oclock position on the back of the RF unit and that might work for you. If it doesn't then it is possible that you will need an adapter, # 20142, especially...

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for 2014 BMW X5
  • One great tire chain option is the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2323. I really like these chains because they install without you needing to move your vehicle, are self-tensioning, and are Class S compatible. These chains are made from square chain links that will provide good traction in snow and needed stopping power on ice. The chains are in a ciamond pattern to offer more coverage of the tire. This chain set will fit well on your 2014 BMW X5 as long as you have the necessary...

Also these chains don't require any inner tire shoulder clearance as they do not go over the shoulder of the tire.

These are made of hardened low-carbon steel rollers that are wrapped around wire cables and will work on front wheel or rear wheel drive vehicles. I also recommend using rubber adjusters like part # PW99 to secure the chains and keep tension so you have a tight fit.
