Features to know about

Get More Out of Every Trip: Class III Strength for Towing and Racks

This hitch gives you a 2" x 2" receiver opening that’s ready for towing, bike racks, and cargo carriers. With a Class III rating, it handles a maximum gross trailer weight of 3,500 lbs and a tongue weight of 350 lbs. If you’re using a weight distribution system, those numbers climb to 4,000 lbs GTW and 400 lbs TW. It’s built for light campers, utility trailers, and gear haulers—strong enough for everyday use without overkill.

Simple DIY Install: Bolt-On Design with No Welding Required

You don’t need special tools or a shop lift to get this hitch mounted. It bolts directly to the frame using included hardware, lined up with factory holes—no drilling or welding needed. The precision, robotic welding ensures a perfect fit and solid alignment right out of the box. It’s built to go on smoothly whether you’re in the driveway or garage.

Built Tough for Everyday Use: Fully Welded Steel with Matte Black Powder Coat

The round-tube steel construction is protected by a matte black powder coat over a base layer for superior rust resistance. This finish doesn’t just look rugged—it hides dirt, chips, and scuffs better than glossy hitches. Whether you’re driving through winter salt or dusty backroads, the carbide-like surface keeps the hitch looking new longer.

Comparison of matte carbide black powder coat versus glossy black finish on trailer hitch tubing, showing the textured, durable surface of the etrailer Class III hitch receiver.

Close-up comparison of matte carbide powder coat and glossy black trailer hitch finishes, highlighting the durable, textured surface of the etrailer 2-inch hitch receiver.

Ready When You Are: Custom Fit and Complete Kit

Everything you need to mount it comes in the box—hardware kit and instructions included. The concealed cross tube design keeps the hitch tight to the frame for a clean look under the bumper. Once installed, it’s ready to pair with your favorite ball mount (sold separately), pin and clip (sold separately), or rack setup so you can hit the road with confidence.

Easy one-person installation. Pre-cleaned all mounting holes as recommended. Since I did this myself, I used the top hole of the side flange to temporary secure to the lower hole of the vehicle. On the other side, I used the top hole of the side flange to secure to the top hole of the vehicle. Returning to the other side, I removed the temporary bolt and positioned the flange in the correct position and secured with the two bolts. I did the same on the other side. I finally installed the two bolts for the tongue. Nice and clean easy installation.

Easy installation

by:

Fast shipping. Fit perfectly as well as the wiring harness. Couldn't have been easier (only if someone else had installed it). Watched a couple of videos before ordering and when it arrived was a breeze to install.

by:

Installed in about an hour. I have minimal experience with working on cars and this was super easy! Will always go with etrailer in the future and recommend it to everyone! Light Harness fit great and was only about a 10 minute jod

by:

Overall a great product. It would have been nice to know the tap/bolt size used to clean up the threads a head of time. My 2005 Chevy Equinox is older and had lots of rust accumulated between the welded nut holes nearest to the 2 inch receiver. I used a hammer to lightly tap all the rust free so the hitch would bolt up tight to the bumper.

by:

Not kidding about cleaning out those weld nuts! Wire brushes and a M12 1.75 tap. For 2005 Saturn Vue owners (don't know about Redline model)..The flat square spacer and carriage bolt got hung up when fishing through the vehicle rail because the dense black foam between the outer bumper cover and the vehicle rail has foam prongs that extend inside the vehicle rail. Problem was solved by undoing a couple black bumper buttons and using a flat bar between the vehicle rail to pry the foam piece back a bit to allow the square hole spacer and the carriage bolt to pull through without interference.

Product arrived in a timely manner with one of the hangers fully exposed out side the box. The heavy construction of the Hitch receiver proved to be too much for the delivery process and the unit was in perfect condition. I viewed the video and started the job of installation. Took me about 1 and a half hours to complete the job.
The design of the unit was such that no drilling was required and the included fish wire was a wonder tool bringing bolts and square hole locks to the proper hole down a hollow frame. The wiring kit was super easy to install with step by step instructions and with NO cutting wires. Sorry it took so long to install. At 82 years old I have slowed a bit. Now I can pull my Jon boat to the lake. Happy Camper.

Easy order, fast shipping the best instructions I ever got with a product and it works perfect. About an hour and a half installation for this old 82 year old. Toes my Jon boat very well.

Fit perfect and installed very nicely

by:

Prior to my ordering this for my 2006 Equinox, I checked underneath for the mounting hardware and found that all six points were welded nuts inside the frame. After ordering I began the immediate task of cleaning 17 years' worth of grim out. Soaking with WD40 overnight I had hoped to blow it all out with compressed air. Not happening!! I checked the diameter and hit upon a solution, and it may also work for you. I could not find any round metal brushes that would fit the hole and stay rigid enough to clean out the treads. I purchased several 10mm bore brushes from our local go to store for under $2 apiece. They fit and worked great to clean the threads out, (I used a pair of plyers in lieu of a handle due to space constrictions). Used Q-tips with some grease to lube the nuts to finish prep for installation of the hitch when it arrived.

I am 65 years old; I have one eye and an attitude that will not allow me to not start a project that I cannot finish, that said the hitched arrived in two days around 5:15pm. I immediately started to work, grabbed my handy wheeled floor jack and set to work. Placing it on the jack at the center point, lifted it up and it slid perfectly into the correct position and amazingly, all mounting holes were lined up! I started at the top on each side and placed the washers and bolts in place, then the side bottom bolts and washers, leaving them all loose. Removed the jack and mounted the two bolts and washers for the receiver portion. Tightened and torqued to specs (XXft lbs) I had it installed by 6:35pm.

etrailer not only provided the perfect wiring harness, but the trailer hitch also matched my vehicle to a "T"!! Very easy to install and is a Secure and solid constructed trailer hitch, the "BEST" priced and quick delivery, was just icing on the cake! I now can enjoy hauling my pop-up camper again and look forward to knowing that my new trailer hitch will provide years of great use into the future.

The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver fit my needs perfectly for my bike rack and was delivered quickly!

by:

Just as advertised, fit perfectly on my 2011 Chevy Equinox. Came with quality hardware for mounting. Less than 1 hour install & we were headed to the lake. Highly Recommend

by:

Product is as advertised.. Fit well. Finish great.. For my 15 V6 Equinox... Though only 37k on my SUV... The hitch should include a tap to clean out the holes or just state a tap will be needed... Also the access panel can be cutout to fit close around the hitch with not much effort at all for a cleaner finished look... and the wiring kit was easy as advertised also.. Though I choose to run my power line from the front to back .. since I do not have a Lift...

by:

The trailer-hitch receiver arrived promptly and was exactly what I needed. The video provided by etrailer of installing it was super helpful—and that etrailer’s price was the lowest I could find online was just sweet icing on a yummy cake. The whole experience with etrailer was a delight!

by:

It came in great condition but the box was pretty beat up and part of the hitch was exposed. I'd dock them a star for it but shipping was fast, free and it didn't get damaged. If the bolts weren't secured to the hitch though they would have fallen out.

It fit perfectly and installation was super easy. I used my hydraulic jack with a board to get it in place. Zipped in the bolts and was fishing in less than 2hrs from delivery. I didn't read the directions so I can't rate those.
Overall I'd buy from them again.

by:

The installation of this hitch is very easy. My GMC Terrain is a 2015 so the side mounting holes were very rusty.FYI the person who attached the weld nuts to this vehicle was obviously Intoxicated none of the are centered in with the hole in the frame and none sit flat against the frame so they sit at a bit of an angle. This is not the fault of the hitch just a heads up to others. My solution was to screw a size smaller tap into the hole this does several things partially cleans out the threads clears hole all the way through and will give you an idea at what angle the weld nut is positioned. Then start the proper sized tap at that angle so as not to cross thread the nut. Next use the supplied fish wire to pull the two center bolts into place. Now you ready to install the hitch. I recommend putting the top bolt on each side first do not tighten. tip hitch up and start the nuts on the two center bolts tighten these bolts just so the hitch touches the frame. The lower side bolts should be lined up with slot in hitch you may have to give it a love tap with a hammer.screw lower side bolts in finger tight.Tighten two center bolts all the way then side bolts and you are done. It took about 4hrs. total including cleaning the thread holes and installing the wiring harness. I am in my late 50's so I am sure it can be done quicker. Highly recommend this hitch.

by:

Ordering the product was pretty easy , it was shipped in a matter of a few days and the product was so easy to mount and bolt up.

by:

Great product and product specialist. Helped me find the best option to upgrade my hitch.

by:

Very solid construction, awesome video online to help with installation. Extremely helpful to have the fish wire for threading through the frame.

A word of advice for anyone buying, make sure you have a wire brush to clean out the threads on your frame - mine were rusted so badly that we were lucky to ever get the bolts on.

Love the advice that is given. It is a great idea to use a wire brush like part # 814092 to clean out the weld nuts and make sure the bolts will thread in before you get started on the installation. Just be careful not to damage the threads.

Perfect fit on my 2014 Equinox. I used an M12x1.75 tap as recommended to clear threads. Will be using it mainly for a bike carrier. Only issue was running fish wire from left side, some debris from when vehicle was built interfered with pulling bolt and plate thru. I removed the lower bumper cover and used a pry bar to clear obstacle. Wasn't too difficult.

by:

Good price perfect fit for my application. Well finished heavy duty made in the USA took about 30 minutes to install, including unpackaging.

by:

Fast delivery, easy installation, perfect fit. Everything you need in package.

by:

To start the product is poorly packed and was half out of box when arrived, however it wasn't scratched up and all parts were present. I installed on a vehicle that is 9 years old so holes were rusted but I used a tap like suggested and got the holes cleaned. I installed hitch myself and fits great. Very excited to be able to haul my bikes now.

need to package better. receiver wraped good but ends were not even wraped.broke tru box and lost mounting hardware. they stuck out like two bull horns tru box

by:

More trailer hitch than needed for a bicycle carrier. Customers need to make sure they know the vehicle tow rating. Just because the hitch is a class III does not mean the vehicle can handle it.

  • What Sizes Bolts Are Needed To Install a Trailer Hitch On a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox
There are a few different size bolts used to attach a trailer hitch to your 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. In order to make sure you get the correct ones, I would need to know exactly what trailer hitch you have as some do use different lengths for this application. For example, if you have the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76028 then you will need four 1/2-13x1.50 carriage bolts, four M12x1.75x2.0 hex head bolts, along with several other spacers/nuts/washers/fishwire etc....

  • Towing Capacity of 2012 GMC Terrain
According to the information contained in the owner's manual beginning on page 9-56 of the owner's manual, the tow capacity of the VEHICLE will depend on the engine size and whether or not the vehicle has brakes. Terrain models with the 2.4 L engine can tow up to 1500 lbs and with the 3.0 L, up to 3500 lbs. GMC states that if the trailer doesn't have brakes, the capacity is reduced to 1000 lbs. The capacity of the HITCH itself should be listed on a sticker affixed to the hitch, which would...

  • Towing Capacity of a 2012 GMC Terrain
According to the owner's manual for your 2012 GMC Terrain you are limited to a maximum gross trailer weight (GTW) of 1,500 lbs if you have the 2.4L I4 engine and 3,500 lbs if you have the 3.0L V6 engine. Therefore, as long as the trailer does not exceed the vehicle's GTW then you can tow it. In order to tow a trailer with your Terrain you will need a trailer hitch, wiring harness, and ball mount/hitch ball if you do not already have them.
