Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side rear access panel. You will have to remove the floor covering, rear cargo area cover, and scuff panel to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.
Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

The 4-pole connector I got for my new car does not fit with the 4-pole connector on my trailer. You made both wiring harnesses.
Another awesome purchase, very easy to setup I was surprised. When I read I had to run a wire from the battery I almost stopped but the video online showed how easy it was and I'm glad I did it. Such a clean install, no tape, no wires hanging out, hides in the spare tire well when not using, perfect!

Love it, well in fact I never have to think about it but I use it every week to take the trailer to the dump for grass clippings. The wiring kit has never had an issue, all lights work, still just as happy!
Get this for your 2025 Rav4 instead of the the other product that was recommended by trailer initially where you have to separate and attach wires separately. This is a snap and go and makes it much easier. The hardest part for me was running the power wire from the battery back to the unit since I could not lift my vehicle off the ground easily to make access easier.
Also, the ground wire connection near the unit is made by drilling a hole then inserting self tapping screw. I skipped the threads with top much cranking on the screw. Be carefull not to screw in too tight or you will strip the threads too.
Installation is not for the feint of heart, as one must be comfortable with basic automotive wiring and wiring harness connections, as well as with pulling apart brand new car interior panels. It took about two hours to open everything up, complete the connections, neatly tie up the new wiring with plenty of zip ties, and put interior back together. Unfortunately, both the written instructions and the instructional video from etrailer were missing a few details that I figured out on my own to complete the installation neatly on my 2025 Toyota RAV4 XSE PHEV.
The Curt T-Connector installed and worked as advertised. Make sure the watch the video eTrailer provides. It made the installation easy.
Excellent, as per usual. Etrailer is the best place to get the exact fit for all the vehicles I have had over the years. I've had no problems with this wiring kit. Easy to install, the instructions were thorough and clear, and it's been performing well with my car and trailer a couple times a week for the last year.

Glad we had the right fit for you H.A.V.! What are you towing with your new wiring?
The trailer hitch fit perfectly on to the RAV4. 4 bolt easy installation. Great quality and strength. Very impressed.
Trailer hitch was the easiest. Four bolts and its done. Crowfoot adapters were definitely required (mentioned in the installation video).
Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector
Part Number: C56434 for a 2025 Rav4 Hybrid XLE
Package crushed in packaging for hitch that was ordered at the same time. Parts loose in box that had large holes in it. All parts were present, but could have been lost or damaged.
Watching the instruction video on eTrailer website is a must. It is good and necessary to see how to access plugs behind wall panels and their locations.
No need to cut into factory wiring. Kit plugs in to existing connectors. Does need to be grounded and connected to positive (+) side of 12v battery. In a Hybrid Rav4 12v battery is it in the back, so that was easy. Not hard to connect. Hardest part was opening the trim to access everything. Best done when warm, plastic is less stiff or fragile.
Strong enough Made to fit my RAV4 2022 Toyota. I can now carry two electric mountain bikes and pool a lightweight small camper trailer with it and feel secure.
Hitch appears to be in good shape, but the package was destroyed with the hitch protruding from multiple spots of the package. Additionally the package was left in the common road of 3 homes over 1/4 mile away. The drive way to our house was clear and marked and other delivery services deliver to the house. We had the same packaging problem the last time we ordered from you and you had to replace the damaged part.
I bought this for my new Toyota RAV4. Installation guide was complete and easy to understand and simple to install. Everything fit PERFECTLY! This is my 2nd time using E-tailer as I used their product on my previous Honda Element. My experience with E-trailer's products can save you a considerable amount of money on installation costs, for a minimal time and effort.

Great, no problems!
Wiring harness was easy to install and works great.
Wiring connected the the car's wiring without a problem. I did run into a few troubles though. I used this kit on a 2019 Rav4 Hybrid Limited. The wires from the left turn signal to the control box were too short of allow mounting to the the floor. I had to remove a speaker box to run the wire behind it and mount the control box. Since the wires wouldn't reach the floor I mounted the box to the wall behind the speaker, mistake, the box fit too close to the wall to allow room for the controller. I wound up mounting the controller the the lower left portion of the speaker box. After that everything went well.
Would have given 5 stars if wires had been a little longer

still working good
I have bought 2 Curt trailer hitches and the custom wiring harness from Etrailer in the past 3 or 4 years. These are my only experience with installing hitches. At first it looks as though this requires a lot of experience. The hard part is figuring out how the auto manufacturer put the auto together. It's a bit of a struggle, but Curt did a perfect job on their end.Youtube is a big help also. E-Trailer also does a good job sending the correct parts. I will definitely use them again and again for the parts that I need.I don't have a photo, but I am very happy with the looks of the installation. On the bolts that connect the hitch... tighten those as close as possible to what the instructions say. Mine were 86ft/lb. Thats more than the lug nuts on the wheels.
I installed it according to the video etrailer made, though it was lacking in some details. I figured it out anyway as I'm a pretty handy DIYer. Used a floor jack and ratchet straps to lift it into place with the help of my brother. Probably could have done it myself though. I think it took longer to install the wiring harness.
Easy to install took about 30 min. You will need hitch 1 1/4 to fit. I had to buy an adapter because I wanted both size ball hitches.
Easy plug in unit with protection for the factory electrical system.
My mechanic had not problem installing. Since I have a SUV the wiring is kept in the back and not in the elements so I wouldn't know how it holds up exposed, but it works well hooks up to trailer wiring tightly.
While this is relatively complicated to install, the challenge was more due to Toyota. I installed wiring for a 2016 Subaru Forester 2 years ago that was relatively simple, one plug provided and in place by Subaru, a ground and mount the little black box all on just one side. With Toyota, you need to unplug and replug each side (4 connections instead of one, and 4 unconnects) versus a single plug in. You need to remove both side panels and the rear threshold. All that said, the instructional video from etrailer made it a lot easier. I guess it wasn’t as difficult as much as it was tedious with a lot of steps. For five stars they may have considered the cap connectors, which to me are much easier to use for a DIYer. The butt connectors didn’t work for me.

Thanks for sharing your install experience with us, Tom. I can completely understand not enjoying the install process on your 2024 RAV4 when the last time you installed a harness it was one and done. However, now that it's installed, what are you planning on towing?
Included instructions were easy to follow. In addition I watched a video from Etrailer of the installation.

One year later, and everything is still working perfectly.
Easy install on a 2024 RAV4 Prime. Battery in the Prime and hybrids is in the on right side so no running the power wire to the engine!
Been using this wiring harness with a boat and small utility trailer for a year+ now and have had no issues at all. It was easy to install and has been working fine.
By far the easiest Hitch I've ever installed. The quality is very nice ant the website was very informative.

I looked at both the wiring harnesses that you have purchased from us and both are a standard 4 flat, now I am not saying you are wrong because sometimes things get out of factories not made correctly. Can you please respond directly to the email you receive with pictures of the new 4 flat, the 4 flat on your trailer, and a picture of them not working? I would like to figure out what is going on with this Matthew =)
