Is There Risk of Rollover When Installing Air Lift # AL60732 With Single Fill Valve on 2006 Sienna
Updated 11/03/2014 | Published 10/31/2014 >
Question:
It seems to me that using the Tee fitting would reduce rollover stability. As the car leans to one side during a turn, the air pressure increases in that bag. The air would then flow through the Tee and into the other air bag, causing the bag to grow vertically, and make the car lean with the turn. Is there a flow limiter in the Tee to minimize this effect? What is the manufacturers take on this? They provide the Tee and include it in their standard directions. I notice Firestone does not have a Tee in their package.

Actually, that's an excellent question that I've always been curious about as well.
I spoke with my Air Lift representative about your concerns about using the Tee fitting when installing their # AL60732 air suspension on your 2006 Toyota. Installing the system using the tee fitting and the single Schrader valve as a filling point CAN allow air to migrate from one spring to the other, but my representative tells me that your Sienna will still have the coil springs in place to provide stability in turns and prevent the vehicle from leaning too far and causing a dangerous condition. Unless you customarily take sharp turns at high speed (which isn't something folks usually attempt while driving a minivan) you should have no problem whatsoever.
My rep went on to say that if it would make you feel more confident, there's absolutely no reason why you couldn't follow the alternate set of instructions and install the air bags using two Schrader valves, which would allow you to fill each spring independently.
You can see the installation instructions by clicking the provided link.
