Question:

Are people buying these pins to use for the larger 2.5inch receivers? My stock pin is too short, so will this one work?

Since you have a hitch with a 2-1/2 inch opening you can still use the hitch bolt that came with your Yakima rack designed for 2 inch hitches. You will need to use a hitch reducer for the hitch so that it will have a 2 inch opening. For that I would recommend the part # C45405. You would just need to thread the bolt through the reducer into the rack threads and it would be secured.

The bolt in the # Y8780022 isn't any longer than what you have with your current rack so it would not give you additional length.

I was looking for this hitch reducer, so thanks for the tip! One question...I have a Hold Up rack and see your comment that the existing threaded pin will work. I have an older version with the cable lock. Is the pin long enough for that to work? Thank you.

@TomL It wouldn't so it would probably make the most sense to use a hitch reducer that has some extension so that the hitch tube length wouldn't be too wide for that pin and cable lock like the # e53YR.
