Hi, can i make a hole on the other side to make it more secure by adding a bolt and nut? thanks in advance and appreciate it

You can definitely make any modifications you'd like to your Yakima HoldUp EVO, part # Y02479. However, you should know that this will void your warranty, and so I cannot recommend it.

If you choose to drill another hole and use the Replacement Mounting Hardware for Yakima HoldUp or TwoTimer Bike Carriers, part # Y8880129, there's no guarantee the anti-rattle mechanism of the EVO will work or even if the Mounting Hardware will fit.

Instead, I recommend using another method to gain more security. You can use the Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap for Hitch-Mounted Accessories, part # 18050. This will help you keep everything stable. I've linked to a video review for your consideration.
