Question:
Hello, I have just purchased a 2014 Chrysler 300 and would like to have a class 2 hitch installed. My mechanic indicates we would need to have to actually cut the rear lower bumper. But when I look at the pictures on your web site, that does not seem necessary. He also mentioned I would need a wiring harness from chrysler. You thoughts would really help. Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:
According to the installation instructions for the Draw-Tite Class II trailer hitch, part # 36548, there is no cutting or modification if the bumper fascia required (see linked instructions). However, on 2011 and newer vehicles, there's a plastic appearance panel under the vehicle that would need to be removed and left off the vehicle. There is a trailer wiring harness available, part # C56145.
If you'll be towing with this hitch, you'll need a ball mount like # 36051 but remember to account for the rise or drop needed for the trailer. You'll also need the appropriately sized trailer ball, so for a 1-7/8 inch ball, use # 19257 or for a 2 inch ball, use part # 19258.
