Question:

I need to move my leaf springs from on top of axle to under the axle. Is there a kit for that? Thanks

Hi Chad!

There is indeed a kit for this fort of thing! What you are looking for is an Over Under Kit. We have two options for these and the correct one will be determined by the size (either the diameter or the capacity) of your axle. I have both linked below:

2-3/8" axle (3,500 pound capacity) # K71-384-00
3" axle (5,200 to 7,000 pound capacity) # K71-385-00

Both of these kits include everything you need to flip one axle, so if you have a tandem axle trailer, you will need a quantity of two (or three if you have a triple axle).

What kind of trailer are you working on?

@ChadW With Lippert 5,200 pound axles, you are going to want the # K71-385-00 kit. I also included an install video for you to check out. It should help. ^___^

Hello Chad: so I installed these over a year ago on my dual axel trailer with 3500# Dexter axles. Installation was very easy. There are numerous videos online and I think Etrailer has a video also. One thing that Dexter is only suggestive of doing, but I think it’s absolutely required is you MIST weld the tie plates. It is stupid dumb to think those bolts with lug nuts can handle the torsional forces on that axle, particularly when backing up and turning simultaneously, or hard breaking or fast accelerating. So, within a couple of weeks of installing these, make sure to get those welded per the instructions or you may very much regret that. Some of the complaints I’ve seen about u bolts not fitting the plates are because the u bolts are slightly sprung outward. So when you put the new u bolts into the new plate you may need to pull the legs in or tilt the plate. I think the people who left those comments may not do this kinda mechanical work much. Idk! It’s trivial to figure out I think. My total increased chassis ground clearance is probably 4”. So I’m very happy with that. Best of luck with your install. Keith
