Can Trimax Razon Ball Mount be Used in the Rise Position

Updated 10/15/2026 | Published 10/14/2026

Question:

I have found conflicting information about this on the internet. Can this be flipped to used in a rise configuration? I am looking for an aluminum ball mount that can be used in a 4inch rise configuration I plan to use it with a stainless steel ball.

Hey Patrick!

I reached out to Trimax directly to clarify this for us and their VP of Operations confirmed for me that the Trimax Razor Ball Mount # TMX67QR can be used in the drop or rise positions. The drop is confirmed at 4" from the manufacturer, and I personally measured the rise at 3" using the method pictured below. The diameter of the hole is 1", so you can use a ball with a 1" shank with this ball mount.

What are you planning to tow with this ball mount, and what size ball do you need?

Hi Jerry, Thanks for your response. I want to tow a 2026 Safari Condo Alto R1723 with a 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness edition. I need a 2" ball. I am currently towing with a 3.75" rise ball mount, and I could use a slightly higher rise, and would like an aluminum ball mount rather than the steel one I have right now. I am also going to be looking for a raise mount for a 2026 Subaru Trailseeker, it is in the shop right now getting the hitch installed. Once I have the hitch installed, I will be able to measure the height of the receiver and see how much rise I will need. I may be able to use the same ball mount on both (the Trailseeker has lower clearance, but the hitch is mounted higher on the frame). Both vehicles have a 2" hitch.

@PatrickM In that case, a better option in my opinion would be the Curt Ball Mount # C24WR. It's rated for up to 8,000 lbs of gross trailer weight and 800 lbs of tongue weight, and I found on Safari Condo's site that the Alto R1723 (which looks really cool, by the way) has a dry weight of 1,991 lbs so this will definitely acommodate the weight of your trailer. The rise on the ball mount is 5", so it'll grant you a little extra without being too far away from your current setup. You're actually my first encounter with a hitch for the Trailseeker, so I'm excited to hear how that performs! None of our manufacturer partners have a hitch for it, so did you get the OEM hitch or did you find one elsewhere?

@MikeL I got the OEM hitch, and am having it installed by a 3rd party shop. I want a 7 pin connector, and the OEM only comes with a 4 pin, and the dealer won't do anything not OEM. The 3rd party shop can install the hitch and a 7 pin at the same time to avoid labor costs. Torklift has a 3rd party hitch for the Trailseeker, but it also only has a 4 pin wiring connector.

@PatrickM That makes sense. It's always fun navigating those types of issues with the new vehicles. Glad you got it figured out!
