Question:
With this hitch extender do I need longer safety cables for my Roadmaster Nighthawk tow bar?

Expert Reply:
You sure do David. I recommend the Roadmaster 10" Safety Cable Extensions w/ Quick Links item # RM-910648-10. These are sold as pair, are 10" long, and have a 8,000 lbs weight capacity.
The safety cables included with your Roadmaster Nighthawk Tow Bar item # RM-676 are only designed to be long enough when your tow bar is connected directly to your motorhome's hitch. When you add the Dual Receiver Hitch Adapter item # RM48BQ, you extend the distance the safety cables have to travel. The Safety Cable Extensions item # RM-910648-10 solve that issue.
What kind of motorhome are you using to flat tow your 2026 Jeep Gladiator? Feel free to answer this and throw in any other questions you have, where it says Add Comment.

I had to get a drop-down receiver, which extended needed reach of my cables. I bought the extensions and they work really well. I flat-towed my 2025 Ford F150 from the Rockwall, TX area to Glacier NP and back—about 4000 miles back in June of this year. They worked great and really met my needs.
