Recommended MORryde X-Factor Crossmember Installation Locations on Tandem Axle Trailer

Updated 10/12/2026 | Published 10/08/2026

Question:

I am planning on installing MORryde X-factor crossmember on my rv trailer. Is it recommended to install on both hangers and equalizer, it is a tandem axle.

Hey Jerry! For the most stability, I recommend installing the MORryde X-Factor Crossmembers # MR33WR at all three locations on your tandem axle trailer. That means the front and rear hangers, along with the center hangers where your equalizers are mounted. This is definitely one of those cases where more is better.

What kind of trailer are you installing these on?

Jerry, real.world user here. I installed the Morryde X factor cross member braces at all 3 locations (leaf spring hangers and equalizer). I also purchased the drop down hanger brackets since I had a propane line in the way. To be blunt, I don't know if our trailer handles any differently, but having the peace of mind knowing that the leaf spring hangers are more secure was what sold me. Hope this helps.

@Eric thanks for sharing! I think the added reinforcement is the biggest benefit here. We've seen plenty of broken hangers over the years, and the X-Factor helps prevent those failures and a really bad day. The peace of mind alone makes it a worthwhile upgrade. I'm sure Jerry will appreciate the firsthand feedback!

I would recommend putting these cross members on all hangers front middle rear. By putting these in it stiffens up the suspension where there is less side to side pressure on the hangers and less pressure on the sidewalls of the tires. I noticed a big difference when turning on pavement or on pavement. They are easy to install well worth the cost and time to install . Randy

@Randy glad to hear the X-Factor crossmembers made such a noticeable difference on your trailer! It's always good to hear firsthand experience from someone running the full setup.

I installed two of these on my Montana 5th wheel, on the middle and rear leaf spring hangers. I did not install on the front hangers as I had reinforced them already by welding on supports. All I can say is that my suspension has become "bulletproof" in my opinion. I had snapped two leaf spring hangers over the last three years, and now I am confident that will not happen again! They are easy to install and the peace of mind is worth it!

@LeonardR that's the goal, making those hangers bulletproof so you don't have to worry about another failure! Glad to hear the X-Factor crossmembers have given you that peace of mind.
