Powering a Velit 2000R A/C with an EcoFlow DC-to-DC Charger

Updated 10/02/2026 | Published 10/01/2026

Question:

I don’t have an electrical system in place yet. I have a dc to dc ecoflow 800 watt and delta 2 power station. What kind of electrical system do I need to run just the AC? AZ desert with a dog. Thank you

Hey Christine, thanks for reaching out. You’ve already got part of the charging side covered with the EcoFlow 800W DC-to-DC charger, but the Delta 2 itself cannot directly run the Velit 2000R AC # VE87QV from its 12V output. The Velit pulls 20-60 amps at 12V and up to about 650 watts, while the Delta 2’s 12V car outlet is limited to only 126 watts.

For a proper setup, I recommend a dedicated 12V lithium battery bank feeding the Velit directly with properly sized cable, fuse, and disconnect. For Arizona heat with a dog in the van, I’d want at least 200Ah of LiFePO4 capacity, and 300Ah is much better if you want meaningful runtime while parked. Your 800W EcoFlow DC-to-DC charger can then recharge that bank while driving. The Velit uses roughly 250-300 watts in Eco mode and up to 650 watts at higher output, so a 200Ah bank gives you a few hours of realistic runtime, while 300Ah gives you a much better safety margin in extreme heat.

I also would not rely on the Delta 2 as the only power source when a dog is depending on the A/C. Its battery is only 1,024Wh, and even if you converted its AC output back to 12V with a power supply, you’d lose energy through the conversion and get limited runtime. EcoFlow For your setup, the simple route is alternator - EcoFlow 800W DC-to-DC charger - 12V lithium bank - fused Velit A/C circuit.

How long do you want the A/C to run while the van is parked with the engine off?

Not sure. I don’t really plan on leaving the dog in the van alone, but don’t want it to be too hot for the dog to be uncomfortable. What do you consider meaningful runtime with the 300Ah battery?

@Christine With a 300Ah 12V LiFePO4 battery bank, I’d call meaningful runtime roughly 5-10 hours, depending on how hard the Velit has to work. At its full 650-watt draw you’re looking at around 5 hours, while Eco mode around 250-300 watts can stretch that closer to 10-12 hours. In Arizona heat I’d plan around the lower end of that range since the A/C will be working pretty hard, but 300Ah gives you a solid amount of runtime for keeping the van comfortable for you and the dog while parked.

@Christine I have a RAM Promaster high roof 159 wheel base and i live in Houston. Since installing it i have only done one weekend trip to central texas which is drier than houston, and i use the a/c when im working on my buildout. I find that the VELIT does a great job cooling the van and i usually keep it on the high humidity mode which is hard work for the battery. I have a LiFePO battery 460 Ah and 640 watts of solar on the roof. on a full charge i can run the a/c all night, but not a lot longer and i’ve so far only used my solar while parked at home because it’s not yet attached to be able to drive with it. As hot as it is in AZ i would buy as much battery as you can afford. maybe it cools off more at night due to the dry climate there but i find i have to run it at some capacity to be inside during the summer here. i brought a foster dog with me on the weekend trip and although we stayed in a cabin with a friend at night she was fine in the van during the day at the times i could not bring her along - restaurants, bike riding and other places she wasn’t allowed. The VELIT is quiet, relative to other units i’ve heard, and i installed it myself except for getting a hand to lift it on to the roof. Good luck!
