Ideal for the rigors of off-road towing or overlanding, this fully articulating straight-tongue coupler pairs with a vehicle-side Lock N Roll hitch (sold separately) to form an extra-strong connection that is safe and secure, no matter the terrain.
Features:
Specs:
This coupler combines with a Lock 'N' Roll vehicle-end hitch (sold separately) to create a safe, secure, fully articulating connection that's great for towing whether you're on the road or off-road. It's more secure than a traditional ball coupler, and it's more comfortable and quieter than a pintle setup. The Lock 'N' Roll connects quickly and easily, and can adapt to any towing conditions.
When using a traditional ball coupler, it can be hard to tell if the coupler is fully latched around the ball. You can head out assuming the connection is secure, only to have the trailer pop off of the ball and disconnect while you're towing. With the Lock 'N' Roll, that won't happen.
This unique coupler is designed to interlock with a matching vehicle-side hitch to form a tight, secure connection. Unlike on a ball coupler, the latching components on the Lock 'N' Roll system are easy to see, so you can tell at a glance if the connection is secure.
Once secure, the Lock 'N' Roll setup offers a wide range of motion, which makes for a smooth ride. Because of the articulating action of the combined coupler and hitch, the Lock 'N' Roll connection can handle the harsh bumps and road shock that could otherwise stress and potentially damage a ball coupler.
The Lock 'N' Roll connection also makes your trailer less vulnerable to theft. Unlike a traditional ball coupler, which is compatible with any hitch ball of a matching size, the trailer-side Lock 'N' Roll coupler can only connect to a vehicle-side Lock 'N' Roll hitch. So your trailer cannot be towed away unless it's connected to a vehicle with a Lock 'N' Roll hitch installed.
With the Lock 'N' Roll, you can have peace of mind knowing your connection will not come apart or succumb to damage caused by road, nor will your trailer be vulnerable to theft.
The pintle hitch connection is the most common setup when towing off road because of the flexibility in the connection. But that flexible connection can also result in a lot of slop. This can cause uncomfortable jerking as well as rattle and noise. In addition, when using a pintle/lunette ring setup, it can be difficult to back up your vehicle and trailer without jackknifing. And it can be hard to disconnect at certain angles, which may be a necessity when overlanding.
The Lock 'N' Roll assembly, on the other hand, offers a close-fit, slop-free connection that's designed for off-roading. This close-fitting design provides a smoother ride than a pintle/lunette ring connection with less rattle. It also makes it easy to back your vehicle and trailer up without jackknifing.
With the trailer end and vehicle end combined, the Lock 'N' Roll setup also creates a fully articulating connection that's great for off-roading. The bearing that's built into the vehicle-end hitch allows for 360 degrees of rotation, which means that your trailer could actually roll all the way over and not take your vehicle with it. The connection also pivots side to side and up and down, making it easy to take rough trails without jarring your setup. This also allows for fast and easy disconnection, even at extreme angles.
Each Lock 'N' Roll setup requires 2 parts - a trailer end and a vehicle end. Together they create a strong, secure connection. To connect, just line up the trailer end and vehicle end together and place the outer metal tabs of the trailer-end coupler into the hooks on the vehicle-end hitch. Then fold the latching plates on the vehicle-end hitch down and secure them in place over the tabs using the pin and clip included with your vehicle-side hitch. With the latching plates secured, the Lock 'N' Roll assembly will stay firmly connected.
When the trailer-side coupler and vehicle-side hitch are secured together, they form an articulating assembly with 3 axes of directional motion. The uniquely designed bearing on the vehicle-side hitch allows the connection to rotate a full 360 degrees. The trailer-side coupler's hinge allows the connection to pivot to the left and to the right. And when the 2 sides are joined, the tabs will roll inside of the hooks so that the entire assembly can tilt up and down.
Towing with the Lock 'N' Roll is easy, and it gives you a connection that's both flexible and secure.

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Lock N Roll articulating channel tongue trailer coupler. Now this channel tongue coupler is going to link with your Lock N Roll Vehicle Side hitch to hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. This is going to bolt onto the top or sides, or you can weld this onto your trailer tongue and it's gonna give you that attachment point for your Vehicle Side hitch. Now this does have a maximum gross trailer rate weight of 6,000 pounds as you see there on your screen, and a maximum tongue weight of 600 pounds.
And the width of this channel is 2 inches. And while I'm here, let me go ahead and put my ruler up there just so you can see. So we, as you can see, 2 inches. And then while I've got my ruler out, let me go over some other measurements with you. Looking at our bolt hole dimensions on center, hopefully you can see that, we are sitting right at 3 inches on center and that's gonna be the same for the top bolt holes as well.
And then measuring from the center of the bolt hole to the center of the bolt holes on top, looks like we are sitting pretty close to 1 and 3/16 inches. And the diameter of those holes is 1/2 an inch. And so this is going to give you a more secure connection than a traditional hitch ball. The outer tabs on the trailer side coupler is going to interlock with the Vehicle Side hitch to form a strong connection, so no more worries about your coupler popping off the ball. The articulating design is going to soften the road shock, and this is going to be great for off-roading, and the head unit is going to pivot side to side and the full articulation when paired with a vehicle end hitch is going to, that whole setup is going to pivot up and down and rotate 360 degrees.
The tight interlock connection creates a smoother, quieter ride than a pintle hitch. And then the close fit connection is going to reduce rattling noise and jerking motion. This is gonna be a fast and easy hookup and disconnect, and the wide range of motion is going to make it easy to connect even at an angle. The bolt pattern is going to let you upgrade easily from the CT-3001-Z and the steel alloy construction is strong and durable. As you can see, this does have a black paint finish that's going to help resist corrosion.
This does meet the SAE J684 towing safety regulations. And then just to give you some extra security for your trailer, InfiniteRule makes hitch pin locks, specifically for this Lock N Roll articulating hitch. You're gonna get two stainless steel locks, one with a 1/2 inch diameter pin and one with a 5/8 inch diameter pin. Those are gonna replace the standard pins and clips on the driver's side and trailer side of your coupler. So to protect your investment, if you want to take a look at those locking pins, you can just take that item number that you see there on your screen, pop that into the search field of our website, and that will take you to those locking pins and you can add those to your order if you so desire. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

just got my Lock N Roll hitches, will not be using them for a month or so due to my trailer still being built. I can say they came in a very timely manner, well wrapped look to be well made, will know more down the road and will submit another review later. I highly recommend etrailer love the hot to and explanation videos very informative. Thanks guys
If you're building a trailer to follow you anywhere offroad (or on the road), these hitches are GREAT!
Great Product, received in poorly shipped box. For the cost I paid for it I would think you would care more of handling my parts
Fantastic product. Hooking up and unhooking my trailer to my Deere tractor is very simple using the Lock N Roll.
I always receive great customer service whenever I call etrailer. The hold time can be 5-15 minutes but the knowledge on the other end of the phone is worth waiting for. The lock n roll coupler is a proven and necessary piece of equipment if you are planning on taking your off-road trailer off the beaten path like I am.
Quality product as usual from etrailer
This item was not included in the original shipment. Upon discovering this I contacted etrailer and was told that it would be looked at. I was then told that it would ship.
Three days later I called as I had not heard back regarding the new shipping info. It had not yet shipped and would "go out today". At the end of the day I receive a call stating that it won't go out, etrailer would do me a favor by paying for 3 day shipping, however, I leave, hopefully, with the trailer on that day and asked for 2 day. I would have to pay for this despite the mistake being with etrailer.
I've had great service from etrailer but am not going to pay for extra shipping due to a mistake by the company. Honor your commitment.
Not particularly pleased and do hope that this will be squared away so the trip isn't delayed (I ordered the parts with ample time for delivery so did not do this in a rush).
This hitch has been best. Works on the trail and on the road. The best thing is it will never come off out on the trail because of the positive locking device. Just make sure you have an extra lock pin. It is a special size and a standard pin wont fit. Great choice and worth every penny.
I use this hitch to connect to an overland trailer. After almost 10k miles, this hitch is solid, well built and much easier to hook up than a conventional one. It came without instruction but the folks at Lock N Roll quickly answered my question. I highly recommend this hitch for anyone who pulls a trailer offroad or hooks up on uneven ground.
Love how it handles my RV and ended the pulling and jerking. Will always have this kind for any truck. The only issues are not many places know how to install especially if removing a regular coupler tongue. Lastly I haven’t been able to find a way to lock it. Anyone can come and lift it off. Have purchased several different type pin hitch locks and all too large. All in all it’s the only hitch I would use.
I found some fairly specialty parts for my overland trailer. Matt located them, added them to an order I had just placed, and it all showed up in a few days. I found parts to replace the pintle hitch with a swivel hitch for the trailer and truck, new brakes that kept the parking brake feature, and hubs to use the same wheels I had on the trailer. When they showed up I checked to see if everything was correct and it was. Great experience!
So far it resolved the problem we had. You just need to be careful when driving at speeds over 50 miles if full, because the trailer will be able to move in all axles if a sudden move/turn from your wheel; though you can add sway bars. We are glad we bought it and we may buy another one.
I can’t believe the holes you drilled aren’t standard per your typical ball hitch tongue. Luckily I have a trailer hitch company that will drill to extend hole lower to meet standard specs.
I installed this lock and roll hitch on my Overland camper that I built and it worked fantastic. I’ve taken this camper out onto our families cattle ranch here in Florida and I’ve been able to travel over very diverse to rain without any issues.
This piece is too long for the existing insert I have on my trailer, so the pin holes do not line up. I contacted customer service via email and Kylie replied stating you have no solutions for me. Very disappointing to spend $600 on a hitch setup and have to come up with my own modification to make it work.
I made the little camper trailer in the attached picture, and went with the Lock N Roll from the start. We've hauled it (off-road) everywhere from the San Juans in the Colorado Rockies to the Ozarks in Arkansas, the beaches of Padre Island National Seashore and the deserts of Big Bend without ever having to worry about the connection between the Jeep and the trailer. I love this hitch! We have them on 4 trailers now...all of which are pulled off-road in some pretty rough places and they perform exactly as described. No banging/clanging like a pintle, no binding, no problems at all.
Fast delivery time. Bought the Lock N Roll for both my trailers. Great quality coupler.
What insurance this hitch was to me. I took my jeep on the Rubican trail with my trailer and I roll my trailer twice. If it wasn’t for my Lock n Roll hitch, I would roll my jeep too. It works great.
This hitch system has been great. One thing I was very happy to see once I got it, was that there are grease fittings for all the articulating parts of the hitch. On side benefit is that I no longer have to worry about having an anti-theft system for the trailer. Unless you have the matching draw bar, no one is going to be able to drive off with your trailer unless they have a flat bed with them.
Both connecting lock n roll products are a great addition to my project roof top tent, utility, kayak mounted, Solar energy equipped overland adventure trailer. Not only has my travel range increased due to this go anywhere upgrade, but my trailer security and its value has increased also. I am a very happy customer. So.e fab work may be necessary.
I spent a full season using this off-road articulating hitch on my off-road trailer. I definitely put it through the paces this fall when I did the rim rocker trail ending up in Moab. It did some pretty hard-core terrain and it worked flawlessly.
This is a great hitch. So far I've only taken it out for a couple test runs but I have no doubt it will stand the test of time. I did have to modify it slightly on the trailer end and remove some material to get it to work with my setup but it wasn't hard.
The grease fitting was broken off had to replace it. All the mounting holes had to be reamed out the mounting bolts would not go through again easily fixed. Overall I would rate this 5 stars if I didn’t have to fix the issues
This was a plug and play system for me. Purchased both trailer and vehicle hitch. Took me 15min to install. The video's were very helpful since no dimensions are shown on any of the pictures. First road trip will be after Xmas 2024. Will follow up with more info later on.
