Hey Dan,
The best bike rack for carrying 2 bikes plus the occasional third is the Thule Outpace # TH59SA
There are plenty of great choices for bringing your bikes to the trail, but when it comes to durability, ease of use, and cost effectiveness this is the best option.
The Outpace is one of the lighter bike racks at only 36.2lbs making it super easy to take on and off the vehicle (without the need for tools I should say). When not in use it will fold up into the size of a large suitcase for easy storage.
When you are using your bike rack, you'll be confident in the safety of the rack and your bikes as it comes with a bike and hitch lock. Also, this rack will fold down and away from the rear of your vehicle for easy access to your trunk space.
This bike rack allows for a wide variety of mountain bike sizes and frame builds so you won't have to worry about fitment or having to pick up additional parts.
The Thule Outpace # TH59SA will be your best friend for your bike whether you use it every day or once a year.
Do you have any upcoming trips to the trail you're getting the rack for?
