Question:

2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid Limited Nightshade Need a hitch and trailer wiring harness... It does not have a factory hitch, no idea if it has a trailer tow package as referenced... Can you advise on what part numbers I need. Thanks

Hey Derek, congratulations on the new Grand Highlander! For a hitch I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C26VV. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver and a bolt-on installation. Since you don't have a factory hitch it is safe to assume you do not have the tow package either.

For wiring, you will need the Curt # C59236. This is a universal splice-in wiring harness. If you would rather have plug and play, you can use the Curt # C55245 along with the Toyota converter PT725-48241. You can get the Toyota part from a dealer or an OEM parts site, it is not something that we carry.

I installed the Curt trailer hitch on my 2024 Grand Highlander. Fits perfect no issues with bolt in place. The wiring assembly that is in the side compartment in the rear seat is simple to locate and Toyota modified that location to make it simple and easy. Purchase the wiring package with both parts in the same bag. The 4 wire connector under the back behind the drivers side rear wheel is easy to find and simple plug in. Should be piece of cake to install. Only trouble is holding the hitch frame up under the vehicle to line up the bolt holes is difficult for one person. Good luck!??

@Don thanks for sharing your experience with the install! That is great information on the factory wiring locations, glad to hear everything was easy to find and connect on your 2024 Grand Highlander. Having a second set of hands for the hitch definitely makes lining it up and getting those first couple bolts started a whole lot easier.

I put the hitch on my 2025 Grand Highlander Hybrid Max. We use it to tow e-bikes. The hitch fits perfectly on the truck. A little low then the factory hitch but works great.

@LenZ you're right that the receiver sits a little lower than the factory hitch, but it is a great option if you don't want to go through the added expense of installing all of the factory components. Sounds like it's working out well for your e-bikes. Thanks for the feedback!
