Question:
What is the difference between the two EZ 990.helper springs besides the price point

Hey Jim,
The Hellwig EZ-990 Helper Springs part # HE62FR is not a fit for a 1994 Ford F-150 based on Hellwig's fitment guide on their website. They fit older GM and Chevy trucks but not your vehicle.
The Hellwig EZ-990 Helper Springs part # HE48VR is a kit that is intended to work with a large variety of factory leaf spring configurations and works with different brands of trucks like Dodge, Ford, GM, and Toyota.
There is also the Hellwig EZ-990 Helper Springs part # HE85VR that works with your 1994 Ford F-150 and is designed to fit leaf springs that are 3" wide.
Both kits are a fit for your truck and are rated for the same 2,000lb load capacity. So, to decide between them I would measure the width of one of your factory leaf springs and if it's 3" wide, go with the HE85FR instead of the general HE48VR kit.
What do you usually tow with your 94' F-150 that you're wanting extra support for?

Hey Jim, I bought the helper springs that go over the rear axle. I found that because of the design, they would bottom out fairly often. I removed them and put on air bags which work great.

Jim and Claire, I installed the EZ-990 helper springs (part #HE62FR) on my 2003 Dodge RAM Van 3500. I was looking for rear sway (body roll) control due to side winds and truck wash. First, I considered a rear anti-sway bar, but the bar mounting points could not be accommodated because my van is a campervan and there are water lines in the same places as the bar mounting points. Second, I considered the EZ-990 helper springs for the same purpose - rear sway control. Installation of the EZ-990 on my van was pretty straight forward and well worth the effort and cost. The EZ-990 helper springs provide great rear sway control for both side winds and truck wash. Driving my van at highway speeds is much easier after installing the helper springs. My van was equipped with rear HD (6+1 leaves) spring packs prior to installation for the EZ-990 helper springs. The new spring combination is good and there is no need for a rear anti-sway bar.
