When towing or hauling light loads, rear-end sag can make the truck feel unstable and throw off your handling. The Hellwig EZ-990 helper springs add up to 2,000 lbs of extra load-leveling capacity above your factory leaf springs. By sharing the weight, they keep your ride level so steering and braking stay consistent even when the trailer or bed is loaded down.
Every load sits a little different, and these helper springs let you dial in the height you want. The U-bolts can be tightened to raise the suspension between 0 and 2 inches, letting you trim out sag or level side-to-side for uneven loads. Each side can be adjusted independently for better balance and control when one side of the truck carries more weight.
Rough roads and heavy loads can make a truck hop or sway. The EZ-990 flexes right along with the factory leaf pack to limit bouncing while keeping stability high. It helps control sway and body roll so the vehicle feels planted whether you’re pulling a camper, hauling gear, or cruising the highway.
These helper springs are made from strong steel with a silver vein hammer tone powder coat that resists corrosion. Mounting hardware is included, and the step bracket style leaf avoids contact with factory hardware for a clean, solid fit. It’s a straightforward bolt-on setup designed for dependable performance over years of towing and hauling.

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at these Hellwig EZ-990 Helper Springs. Now these are custom fit springs that are designed to fit your 2015 to 2020 Ford F-150 two-wheel and four-wheel drive. And on custom fit parts such as these, I do recommend using our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com. Simply input the year, make, and model of your vehicle and our fit guide will let you know if these will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. Now these custom helper springs have a load-leveling capacity of 2,000 pounds and they are going to install above your F-150's rear factory springs to reduce sway and body roll while preventing sagging when towing or hauling light loads.
And these are going to extend the life of your factory suspension, tires, and brakes. And these springs will flex with your leaf springs to limit the bouncing while providing optimal stability. These u-bolts that you see here can be adjusted to suit different loads. The drivers and passenger sides can be adjusted independently for uneven loads. And these springs are made here in the USA of a durable steel construction which is going to ensure a long-lasting performance.
And they feature a silver vein hammer tone powder coat finish that's going to resist corrosion. And the step bracket design of these leaf springs are going to avoid contact with your factory hardware. Now I do have these kind of set up offset just a little bit so you can get a clear view of the springs and the hardware here in the back as well. But obviously when you install these on your F-150, they are going to be level. Now this is a bolt-on installation, again, above your factory leaf springs.
Mounting hardware is included. And I do wanna make a special note that you don't want to install these springs on vehicles with a composite or a plastic leaf springs 'cause these are so durable that could damage those plastic or those composite leaf springs if you do have them. Instructions are included to walk you through the installation process, and again, these springs have a capacity, a load leveling capacity of 2,000 pounds. But just so you know, these springs are not designed to increase your vehicle's weight-carrying capacity. These are just going to help you get the maximum benefit from your suspension on your F-150.
These do have a lifetime warranty from Hellwig and that's going to wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

These springs eliminated the rear sag from adding a shell, rubber bed mat, and a little gear.
Easy to install as well, but recomend having a 7/16X20 tap/die to clean threads on supplied u-bolts.
Easy to install. It should help stabilize the rear springs when I tow our boat.
The product fit well and installed would have been a breeze if it wasn’t for the hardware. The u bolts are very poor quality with burrs and poorly tolerances threads. In addition only half the hardware was the correct size. One set of nuts was too big for the u bolts. The hardware was also low quality. In my opinion it should have all been grade 8 corrosion resistant hardware and it is much lower grade. I ended up having to buy all new hardware to be able to install at an additional cost. Now that it is installed the product works fantastic. Just be aware you may need to purchase extra hardware to get it installed.
Helper springs made my Ram 1500 Conversion Van have a more comfortable ride. The springs raised the profile of the back of the van by about 1-1/2", which is not noticeable and the van still looks good. My RV Travel trailer lowered the back half of the van by about 1", before I installed the helper springs. The helper springs should enhance the ride of the van.
The springs lifted my Tacoma with a cap about an inch higher. It would have been more helpful if the directions indicated that a C-Clamp would be useful to compress the spring ends to allow the u-bolts to be installed. The directions also indicated the long end of the spring should face forward. I measured the spring from the end to the hole and this was the same either way, so was confusing. I purchased longer axle u-bolts since the added thickness of this extra spring made the factory u-bolts too short IMO. I feel that should have been part of this kit. Lastly, the u-bolt on the driver's side did not need to be installed sideways per the instruction. It fit fine just as the other u-boults were installed. Maybe the instructions could be updated to be more accurate.
I was a great addition to my RST 1500 Chevy and I transferred to my High Country 1500 Chevy and never missed a beat towing the travel trailer.
Easy to install, does not affect the ride much , worked great pulling my fish house to the lake. I showed my helper springs to one of my customers, gave him the part number for his truck and he ordered them from e-trailer today. Great product.
It worked perfectly for my needs. It helped my 2011 Silverado from sagging too much without raising the backend of the truck much (1/4 to 1/2) while empty. I can adjust this added spring to have less sag but then I raise the backend a little more. It's at a happy medium. It is easy to fine tune it if I want more or less spring support.
Loaded my tacoma with a portaboat on the ladder rack and a few hundred pounds of camping gear. The sag was gone after installing these. The ride is a little bit stiffer when empty as to be expected but not bad even on washboard dirt roads. These can be fairly easily installed and removed if desired. Hardest part is jacking up the truck to sit on the frame
Way better than expected. Huge difference in the rear suspension. It’s almost like having a sway bar.
Easy to install and made a huge difference in the truck.
Easy to install fixed exactly what my problem was. I had a inch and a half sagging of my truck when I put my travel trailer on now it's only a half inch and did not really affect my ride
The Hellwig helper springs did exactly what I needed them to do! Pulled a 10000#
34' 5th wheel on our 16 F150 with 5 people
onboard. A lot more economical than air bags, which wouldn't work with 5th wheel frame mounts.
U bolts are to long and would not allow the prop tightening.
Hellwig customer service advices to shim with washers.
Poor recommend repair.
Easy install great fit. Readjusted for our new trailer in 10 minutes and working wonderfully.Leveled the truck and rides smooth..
