Question:
I just purchased a Redarc tow pro liberty brake controller. What other items do I need to hook it up to my 2017 Subaru Outback 2.5 Limited no tow package option on the car.

Congratulations on the new Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty part # RED52VR Brian! You picked a great brake controller. Since your 2017 Subaru Outback doesn't have the factory tow package, I'm assuming you're starting from scratch with the trailer wiring. To get everything working, you'll first need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat, Part # C56040. From there, you'll add the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller, Part # ETBC7, which converts the 4-way into a fully functional 7-way connector and includes everything you need to wire in the Redarc.
The 4-way harness is a pretty straightforward installation since it plugs into your factory wiring. The ETBC7 is a little more involved because you'll run a power wire up to the battery, connect the brake controller output wire, and tap into the cold side of the brake light switch. The nice thing is that the kit includes the 7-way and 4-way connector, circuit breakers, wire, terminals, mounting bracket, circuit tester, zip ties, wire loom, and all of the hardware needed to make for a clean installation.
Once those two kits are installed, your Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty will have everything it needs to control your trailer brakes safely and reliably. If you'd rather have someone install it for you, just let me know your ZIP code and I'd be happy to help you find an installer in your area. Out of curiosity, what kind of trailer are you planning to tow with your Outback?

Thank you for the reply! I was just about to send another email as my controller came yesterday. OK, I pretty much had it figured out, just needed confirmation. I will add the four pole myself. Then I will have someone add the rest. I am in Greensboro NC 27408 I will be towing a 2024 Flagstaff 14OTG (weighs 1300 and comes with brakes).
