How To Adapt Yakima OnRamp LX With 1-1/4" Shank To A 2" Hitch
Updated 07/28/2026 | Published 07/24/2026 >
Question:
I have a Yakima OnRamp LX with a 1.25 shank SKU 8002757. I bought a new vehicle that has a 2 hitch receiver. Is there a way I can use the rack with my new vehicle? You stock a replacement hitch shank assembly Part Number Y99TR for the Yakima OnRamp SKU 8002706, which was a previous version of the OnRamp LX SKU 8002757. Does this also work with the OnRamp LX? Is it the same thing as the replacement hitch shank assembly on Yakimas website SKU 8881650? Also, if Y99TR works, will I need a different hitch bolt than I used on the 1.25 shank?

Hey Nelson, welcome back. Yes! We have just the thing. To use your Yakima OnRamp LX with the 1-1/4" shank with a 2" hitch you will need the following:
- Replacement 2" Shank for Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Racks # Y89GC
This will replace the shank that came with your rack and allow it to fit the 2" hitch on you new vehicle. This is one and the same as the Yakima part 8881650 you mentioned. The 2" shank from the old OnRamp does not work with the OnRamp LX.
