Hi Jerry,
To replace your Atwood G6A-74 water heater, you can use the Dometic RV Water Heater part # DMC43RR that you were looking at. It will fit inside your cutout with dimensions of 12-7/8" tall x 12-7/8" wide x 19-1/2" deep and has the same 6-gallon tank. It will produce up to 12 gallons of hot water per hour, has an aluminum tank to reduce calcium build-up, and a 10,000 Btu burner. This water heater also comes with the Dometic water heater door conversion kit that specifically made for Atwood cutouts. So, you'll be able to use this kit to install the door without having to make too many adjustments.
However, this unit does need 12V power to function because it has an automatic DSI pilot unlike your Atwood unit that has a standing pilot. At this time there is not a standing pilot unit available to replace the Atwood, so you'll need to add a fused 12V supply (typically 15 amps) and water heater for the control board, gas valve, and igniter.
For a MAXXAIR roof vent, I like to recommend the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/12V Fan part # MA00-07500K. It has a powered-lift dome, so you won't need to reach the ceiling to crank it open and its ten-speed fan is reversible to move air in or out of the trailer as needed. The built-in rain shield will keep water out while still being able to use the vent and the built-in thermostat will switch the fan on and off as needed to keep the temperature inside the camper steady. It fits in a standard 14"x14" roof opening so you should have no problem making the swap.
What's your first trip that you have planned for your new Airstream?
