Do you Have a Magnesium Anode Rod for My Suburban SW10DEL?

Updated 07/01/2026 | Published 06/24/2026

Question:

I need an anode rod for Suburban SW10DEL. I want to try a magnesium one. I understand the thread is 12 tpi NPT. Do you have these? If not where can I get one? My dealers all seem to think their 14 tpi aluminum ones are universal!! AI says WRONG that is why I never can get threads to engage well, replacing what dealers have sold me.

Hello Nathan,

Thanks for writing in!

The Suburban SW10DEL uses a 3/4"-14 NPT anode rod. We do carry the Camco RV Water Heater Anode Rod # CAM11563, which is an aluminum replacement designed for Suburban water heaters.

If you'd prefer to use a magnesium anode rod, you'll need to reach out directly to Suburban for a compatible replacement, as we do not offer a magnesium version for your water heater.

Based on what you described, that would explain why you've had trouble getting the replacement anode rods to thread in properly. The correct replacement for your water heater uses a 3/4"-14 NPT thread, so if you've been sold an anode rod with different threads, it would not engage correctly.

What kind of camper is this going in, and what upcoming trip are you gearing up for?

The heater anode rod that I purchased from etrailer for my suburban RV water heater fit perfectly. At the time, I didn’t ask about the pipe threads. I trusted the professionals at etrailer and felt their price was good.
