Question:
Looking to replace a landing gear gearbox for my 2005 Salem 28 ft fifth wheel travel trailer, the one that is on it currently is a black plastic Venture Mfg. Co VMC40R8 or it might be a B-032847. Its hard to read the numbers on it.

Hey Bernie, thanks for all of the info you listed from the Venture landing gear you have on your 2005 Salem. Based on that the correct gear box replacement would be the part # LC276602. Hows the rest of the landing gear? Do you think it's the original landing gear that came with it?

I've had really good luck with the landing gear gearbox that I replaced on our older toy hauler. It was a direct replacement. I also replaced landing gear legs or jacks at the same time. The combined effect was much smoother and quicker time to hook-up and unhook from the truck. Before changing them I noticed the motor would get hot and I would stop and let it cool down before resuming at least 1X and often twice while lifting to hook-up. After changing, the motor can run longer (and possibly quieter) and I find that I don't need to stop to cool down. I am very happy with the results and my wife has noticed how much smoother the whole process of hooking-up and unhooking is now.
