Hi Marvin. Great question. The best option I’ve personally seen work well on Brinkley travel trailers with the propane box is the B&W Continuum (part # BW78FR if you have a 2-inch trailer hitch on your truck or # BW28FR if you have a 2.5-inch hitch). We’ve actually had a few Brinkley owners specifically mention how well it fit without interference issues up front, which has been a big plus for hookup ease and turning clearance.
I completely understand the concern about a weight distribution hitch contacting the propane box or forcing modifications to the A-frame. Nobody wants to deal with gouging the frame, struggling to access propane tanks, or constantly second-guessing clearance during tight turns.
The tricky part is that weight distribution systems aren’t tested on every individual trailer model and floorplan, so it’s tough to guarantee exact fitment across every setup. In general though, most systems need somewhere between 25" and 30" of unobstructed frame space behind the coupler, depending on the hitch design.
If you can measure how much open frame clearance you have from the center of the coupler back before hitting the propane box or any other obstruction, I’d be happy to give you a few more examples that should work well on your Brinkley.
Once we get this all worked out for you, where do you plan on taking your next trip? I recently stayed at a KOA down on the Lake of Egypt in southern Illinois. It was a blast.
