Does B and W Continuum Weight Distribution System Have Sway Control Built In

B and W Weight Distribution Hitch - BW78FR I watched the installation videos and customer reviews everything, but there is no explanation on how the anti-sway does it need to be put on this trailer hitch. Give me a good example of why the trailer doesn’t need anti-sway. And one more question is there anyone around the Fort Wayne Indiana area that works for E Trailer that can help find tune one after it’s installed. In other words, can I take it to an E Trailer outlet and have them look at my set up and tell me if I did it right?

Hey Elliot, the B&W Continuum Weight Distribution # BW78FR that you referenced does have sway control but it's not as specific as other systems. Basically B and W's philosophy is that a properly balanced trailer using a superior weight distribution system like this will stop sway so it doesn't have any friction pads built into it. Now with that said there is a lot of tension between the hitch ball and the coupler which does create a form of friction sway control.

I attached a link to our installer locater for you to check out to find someone local to you who can help with the install and tuning but I think you'll do great with it.

Have you used weight distribution before and what are you towing?

I forgot to add something to my message to you and that is, if there’s no adjusting the head angle by putting different washers to get the angle, how does this determine the angle and isn’t that something that has to be done to get the right tension regardless of what Trailer distribution and Hitch that you use? I’m a little bit confused about that point. I like all the reviews and the videos explaining everything but it seems like they left that out as well as the fact that it doesn’t explain how it doesn’t need anti-sway bars

@Eliot to change the spring bar tension with this system you have to pump up the hydraulic cylinder which pushes the spring bars down to create more spring bar tension.

@JamesonC My question was nowhere near what you answered. My question was how do you change the angle of the head if you don’t use the washer system. And the second question was if you don’t use anti-sway bars what keeps it from swaying.

@Sailingbum On the system, I have with the tension bars I could take a few links less on the chain to tighten up the bars. But that still doesn’t tell me what this system does when you pump it up as far as changing the angle on the ball., 2 5/16 inch ball, away from the bumper of the troll vehicle. Is this Hitch in a permanent fixed position as far as the angle of the ball? That’s what I was alluding to in my first text and now I would like to know again what keeps the trailer from swaying if you don’t need anti-sway bars ?

I have this hitch and the head angle hasn’t needed adjusting for me so I wouldn’t stress about that. It only works with one type of coupler so if the height is right and everything is level, the head angle will be right. For the sway…I was having issues with mine not providing nearly enough anti sway. I welded a plate onto it and added a curt anti sway bar and now it’s the perfect hitch. It’s an incredible improvement over the chains and the flexibility of adjustment when the camper is loaded differently is a huge bonus.

I installed the B&W Continnium WDH on my 2021 30’ Hideout Travel trailer by myself at 70 yrs young. Super easy, Take your time and follow directions exactly as stated. I had to experiment on my ideal hyd pressure I needed Now dialed in at 900 pounds Now approximately 5 minutes to be hooked up and ready to roll. I do love this hitch. Not for sure how it illuminates sway but I haven’t had in problems. Keep in mind I pull my trailer at 60 to 65 mph
