Recommended Trailer Hitch For A 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid SE AWD

Question:
I have a 2026 AWD Corolla Cross Hybrid SE, what hitch would work with my vehicle? I was told I can only use it as an accessory hitch and not tow anything, is this correct?

Hi Bernadette!
I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 2" # C64DR for your 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid SE AWD. It's American made and can handle up to 200 pounds of tongue weight and 2,000 pounds of towing capacity. And yes, it can tow things.
That said, this is rated for more capacity than your vehicle is and you will need to keep that in mind. You are always limited by the lowest rated component. From what I could find, the max a 2026 Corolla Cross Hybrid SE AWD can tow is 1,500 pounds, but double check in your owner's manual or with a Toyota dealer before just going to that amount.
On that note, what are you planning on using the hitch for?

Thanks for your feedback! I will primarily be using it for a 2” Kuat bike rack but do have a small trailer I may want to utilize for light loads (of course keeping in mind the vehicle’s towing capacity). Do I need to purchase a wiring harness separately for towing, and if so what do you recommend?
